In-between a 5857 and 6262? - 600whp goal
Hey guys, I'm looking for a turbo inbetween a precision 5857 and a 6262. Goal is approx. 600whp but with the best area under the curve/spool.
Still working on the setup but will likely be:
b18c GE sleeved block 84 bore
LS micro-polished crank
b18c type R head
CTR cams
supertech valvetrain
cp 9.7:1 pistons - may use a cometic .040" to drop this to approx. 9.4:1 because of poor gas
manley h-beam rods or turbo tough i-beams
car will be a DD - nothing more than 400whp on pump, but on race gas I'm looking for around 600whp, goal is mid to low 10sec. I don't however subscribe to this big turbo mentality to shoot for 700whp only to drop 100+whp in-between gears
I'm thinking this might be a bit much for a 5857, any recommendations?
Where's Mr Shodan @?

6262 all the way. you will make 600 np. and it will give you some head room to turn it up later down the road, and you WILL end up going for more after you drive the car on 600 for a week of 2.

I know the 6262 can make it...just wondering if there is a size between the 5857 and the 6262, customer is looking for an option that's fun on the street as well.
I Was looking for similar goals i went with the 6262 ball bearing with the ported cover. .63 exhaust housing and vband. Spools quick and is a nasty turbo.
With the right setup, the 5857 could pull it off. It will need to be pushed a bit, but it can be done. The 6062 isnt built anymore, so the next step is a 6262.
You can't have quick spool and 600whp. Not possible. If it's a street car go with the 5857 and get close to 600. It really just depends on the purpose of the car but a 6262 is not the best on the street
There's a 6062, going to have to push it to go over 600. The 6262 will make 600 a lot easier and have some room to spare, which if I've learned anything from doing this, having room to spare is always a good thing.
not expecting t3/t4 57trim like response..but rather say a turbo that can be pushed to make 630whp vs the 6262 which I understand is a 700whp turbo
the 6062 maxes out around 650hp....it wont make 600whp without pushing it to hard.
go for the 6262
other choices are
GT3788R
Turbonetics GTK-650
im amazed the shodan hasnt come in here and listed off a bunch of turbos yet.

Was also considering a HTA 35R from Forced Performance - think that can make the 600whp?
I have pretty much the same setup as you and I put down 610 at 21psi with a 6262 with a 82ar exhaust housing at speedfactory. Its a great turbo!
this should answer your question or give you an idea.

Sweet turbo. Talk to the Shodan

can you see the difference? the center of the hta where the shaft goes through is smaller allowing the blades to be slightly longer (was told about 3mm difference)
again i dont like the idea of pushing a turbo to its limits....it wont live as long as a porperly sized turbo not working as hard.

that's exactly what I'm looking for...a "properly sized turbo" for 600whp, that will give me the best area under the curve...doesn't necessarily have to be "off the shelf"
