that does not make sense Iridium works better than stock ?!? (BKR7IEX )
but not the bkr7iex-11 way to big of a gap .45
smaller gap would help like .28

more details on setup

the reason...ishhh when he told me that i just dont listen him annymore about tunning,,so i always used bkr7iex-11 (regapped to .28) in my other car...this is why i was confused...

forged b18b comp ratio.. 8.3:1

wiseco piston(dont know the compression ratio)
ferrea valves/spring/retainer
j.e rod
3 inch intercooler and piping
exhaust and intake ported head
Blackworks welded block guard
victor-x intake
spec-r trottle body
crower cams
aem cam gears
ss equal lenght manifold
gt3071 garrett turbo
800cc BOSCH EV14 injectors
aem progressive watermeth injection kit
38mm turbosmart wastegate
tial blow off
mishimoto radiator
rs tranny with quaife lsd
exedy stage 2clutch(i dont do drag and lapping)
full 3 inch downpipe/exhaust
pyro/boost/oil temp/oil pressure/watertemp pro comp gauge
innovate wideband

ive got on 91 oct(we only have this here) and meth(50/50 mix) 18 psi 370 whp and 320 lbs and this is my local tunner (not the best)

BKR7IEX-11
is not a good plug to use as your stressing the plug to get the gap you need

try useing BKR7IEX its .32 to start with so its only a small adjustment to .28

^^ this is the same thing i recommend to the JRSC guys and use myself

I normally just go with BKR7E there like 1.38 Each....

Is there really any benefit going with iridium? Also at what point would you say a heat range 8 would be recomended?

im at 480whp now w/ small amount of no2. i would think im at the upper limits of the 7 heat range....Debating on dropping to the bkr8e...possibly iridium.

Stronger spark, smaller electrode so it takes less energy to produce a spark so more energy goes into the spark

I would suggest to answer all your questions

http://www.ngk-elearning.com/

it takes a bit to load correctly sometimes reset the page
but click on spark plugs and you will learn all the facts you will ever need to know

and at the end get a certificate for it

Makes sense... I might try iridium this time around (bkr7iex) I run OEM ignition usually im free of break up with about .022ish gap with the bkr7e. Maybe ill try slightly higher with the Iridium.

Going to stick with the 7 heat range.

Old school turbo knowledge said iridiums were bad for FI. We've proven this to be wrong and made more power vs standard electrode at same gap. Unfortunately the iridium plugs are 4-5x the cost of standard plugs.

Exactly. I tend to change between the 4554 and the 2668s like you stated in the previous thread. But for street use, even the BK7s can still work.

Why is the resistor option so expensive? I wish there was a 5k resistor I could run inline with my plug wires so I could run the 4554 racing plugs.

No idea other than that Iridium is extremely expensive as an element.

For racing I use an even more aggressive GReddy plug.

At what power level would you suggest to upgrade to the 8's? i know im at the limits of the 7's but its a street car so figured i stick to the 7's.

Well its heat based, not power based. Pull the plug out and read the grounding strap. You want the annealing mark to be right in the middle.

Im thinking i would be fine with the 7's, but once im using NO2 im sure id be benefiting from the 8's.

I will check the old plugs when i take them out

Also the grounding strap is more for reading timing correct? The burnt threads at the end of the plug are suppose to dictate heat range.. 2-3 threads ideal...4-5-6 you need a colder plug

WEll thats a 8 heat range...you would think its ok...but thats a big *** turbo!

You may even need 9's really only way to know is too read the plugs and see if it needs a colder step..

Sounds like your's clearly is not a street car so maybe 9's would be better....jmo

Yes not a street car so I need to go with Denso IK27 or BKR 9??

That's because our only source of iridum is from meteorites that hit earth forever ago. It takes very advanced mining methods to obtain as well. The cost of turning the raw ore into an electrode is also costly given the materials hardness. On the plus side though this hardness means that for a given application the iridium electrode will provide a longer service life vs. A standard electrode.
