Re: best intake mani
not everyone is going to agree on just one, but most will agree on removing the dual runner. victory x is used a lot and i haven't heard of anyone unhappy with it.
i've used two, skunk 2 and full race. i want to try the victory x next

Re: best intake mani
i was thinking about using the skunk 2 cause im not going to boost it untill a little later down the road, but i didnt wanna waste any money buying a manifold that doesnt work for both. the victor x works great at 7k to 10k i wasnt planning on going to 10k, at the most 8500 on a stock motor thats were the skunk2 comes in its badass from 3k to 9k perfect Right?

Re: best intake mani
btw, if you have a jdm gsr you will run into a problem, skunk 2 im's and others will have a smaller coolant fitting bridging off of the im. going to the idle control valve, i think jdm motors run with out idle control valves.
easy fix is to weld it shut. if you have a usdm gsr , nevermind

Victor X, but I have never tried any other manifolds so I wouldn't know what to tell you about the others out there. As said above, I have seen and heard about the skunk2 and victor x alot, which seems to be the way to go. I just read alot about what other people are using and how they like it. C'mon most of the big hp guys use the victor x, so that is why I picked it too.

Re: best intake mani
I ran a full-race intake manifold for a while. I think it was to much for a street car (built motor, gt30r) or we just didn't have something with it setup right. Ended up selling it for a victor x and everything has ran smooth since. It shifted my powerband more then anything, powerloss wasn't to bad.
That being said imo the best bang for your buck is the victor x. You can find them used for next to nothing and new they are around $300 if i'm not mistaken. S2 manifold is to close to stock. Anything sub 300whp and I'd just keep the gsr manifold.
Side note: Magnus has a new intake manifold out for about $750. I haven't seen much testing but it's something to keep an eye out for in the future.

Re: best intake mani
Different intake manifolds, will perform different results. typically one type will help with gaining better response, torque and acceleration because of the slightly smoother, longer runners, and smaller plenum that needs to be pressurized, similar to an NA application like a Skunk 2 or Blox, or,AEBS, performer X. The Victor X, JG, Magnus, type IMs utilize higher volume plenums, and shorter runners for more top end power, and less midrange. These are most complementary with Turbochargers larger than a BW259 or GT35R, or larger where the focus is high end power for the car, used mainly in drag racing, where "spool" isn't much of an issue or need. Some try to have a combination, like AIR CF manifold, and do well, at a seriously increased cost.

Opinions are plenty anywhere you go on something like IM's. I'm only shooting for 400 whp at extreems so I'm going to give the stock ITR mani and T/B a go.

Re: best intake mani
thanks for the reply's, but i think im gonna go with the skunk2 for now cause i wont b boosted for awhile and i like the idea of midrange power not so much top end.

I'm not calling you out, I'm actually really interested to see results from all different manifolds.

Re: best intake mani
Im very interested in feedback of the BBK mani also. I was looking at one on summit racing the other day, but have never seen anyone use this. I used to have a Victor X. not really what I wanted so I sold it. it ran really sluggish down low until I got up in my rpm's. it's not what I wanted on my street setup. my eye's are set on blox or finding feedback on this bbk.

Re: best intake mani
it really depends on what kind of horsepower your looking to make, i've heard of alot of people using the performer x intake manifold and getting far better results throughout there powerband than the victor x manifold

Re: best intake mani
here you go taken from club civic. Props to "importracerFF" for the great write up on IM's. i reference that thread 2 everyone who has questions on which IM to buy.
heres a section i took out that should help you alot.
"Skunk2:
Long open runners with a small stock size plenum. The stock plenum helps with the lower rpms (2,000 - 4,000) however the from 4,000 - 5,000 a lose of power occurs due to the way the plenum is shaped (as seen in the dyno sheet at their site). From 5,000 and up the plenum and open runners allow air to create a nice velocity making more power.
Edelbrock Performer X:
Long open runners with a larger plenum. The larger plenum will not show as great of an increase as the skunk2's 2,000 - 4,000 range however will show an increase (compared to a decrease) of power from 4,000 - 5,000 and then the larger plenum and runners allow even more of an crease from the 5,000+ range.
Edelbrock Victor X:
Very short open runners with a large plenum. Due to the short runners and large plenum there is no increase (and most likely decrese) in performance from the 2,000 to 6,000 range. However from 6,000 to 10,000 range the performance is increased more then any other manifold. This is a turbo manifold and should only be used as such.
Golden Eagle And ZEX:
A square plenum and very short runners. Made mainly for nitrious and turbo. I would not recommend these unless your boosting large numbers. "
if you want the link to the thread on CC ill have no prob posting it
