bad turbo seals?
k,freinds 90 crx si.turboed with a t28,intercooled and using 450's with vafc.
first motor cracked a sleeve before it was ever turboed from over heating countless times.so we put in a 97 dx motor(y7).it smokes really really bad.the guy we got the motor from said it had been sitting for a while.we did a compression test and came up with 180,185,180,175.im thinking that it is in the valve seals.
i pulled off the intake piping and there is no oil at all in any of the turbo pipes,so im pretty sure that rules out the turbo, also there is no oil on the plugs at all.
can it smoke from the seal in the turbo and out the exhaust with out going through the motor?or is it the valves, with no oil on the spark plugs?

this is the EXACT same dilema i am in. My guess is that it is the turbo. From what i hear, if its valve seals, it will smoke on startup and go away when all warms up.

Re: bad turbo seals? (streetlvlhatch)
right, this seems to only smoke after the car gets warmed up.no oil in the motor, not on the spark plugs or in the piping.i havent pulled the manifold back yet to check there.im guessing if there is no oil in the manifld,it must be the turbo.
