B18B1 turbo setup
I'm going to start buying all my part so that i will be ready to go turbo as soon as it gets warm. This is the stuff i came up with after many long hours spent on honda-tech.
GARRETT T3/TO4E 60 TRIM W/ .63 A/R TURBINE
Maxrev Manifold
Johnnyracecar.com 6" intercooler
Tial 38mm
1st Gen DSM bov
Hondata
RC 550cc injectors
Walbro 255lph intank
ClutchMasters "stage 4" clutch
custom 3" exhaust with Magnaflow muffler
custom downpipe
oil lines, intercooler piping, etc
Tuning will be done by PaynTechnologies
My goal is to hit mid to high 200hp range. Do you guys think that this setup could hold that muchpower safely or do i need to upgrade some parts ar add anything?
i'm basically looking ro any suggetstions or comments on my setup from anyone. thanks

Re: B18B1 turbo setup (PLRacer)
P.S. its going into a 94 LS with 90k miles. Bought the car from original owner about 2 months ago. The motor and trans are in great shape.

shouldn't have any problems, i wouldn't short cut your setup with that shitty bov, spend like $100 and get an HKS. also you might think about bigger injectors, 550's are fine for your goal, but if you decide to go a little crazy, 720's will leave you with room to play with just a thought, but sounds like a great setup

Re: (rewsnaeht)
looking at how much boost some dsm's run, i think it should be good for my setup. i know its not the best but im really trying to keep a budget. but yeah if i found a nice bov for a $100 i probably would buy it.
i see your point about the injectors. basically over the past year i went from plans of a 350hp stock block ls down to 250-280ish. i know some people run crazy amounts of power on those motors but the closer i get to bossting my car the more conservative i get.

i'm making 320hp on my stock b18b, my 720's are at 60% duty cycle, so i still have room to play with. i started with high 290's and decided to go up a little. it would be better to spend the extra $5 or $10 an injector now, then to have to sell your old ones and buy another set. and whos' to say 300 + on a stock motor isn't conservative

posts like that make me want to say **** it and hit like 350hp, but then there posts with people blowing their engines at lower hp so its a tough shoice. Is your setup in an integra? what 1/4 time are you running?

i have an ls in my civic .. i made my hp @12psi, and its a matter of not shortcutting anything and having a good tuner. after i replace my leaking headgasket and get new headbolts, i'm gonna go for more! but as long as you are smart and trust your tuner everything should be fine. oh, and i got everything done in November so the tracks were closed this spring i'll have some times

If you're only looking for 200 WHP, your compressor is good, but you can even get away with a 50 trim A .48 A/R turbine will probably be better for your goals, it will spool faster than the .63 and can easily hit 200 WHP with 10 PSI. 550's are good to around 300-350 WHP. Until you decide to beef up at least he rods and pistons, they're more than you'll need,
Good luck with the setup!

IMO a 60 trim is a little too much...50 trim is probly your best bet...will spool up quicker then a 60 trim...plus the b18b doesnt really rev high enough to take advantage of a turbo of that size..just my .02 cents

im looking for about 250-280 not 200. maybe even close to 300 later on.
do you guys still think that turbo would be a little too big?

Re: (powerls)
oh, sorry, i just saw the 200 part. your trim size is perfect, but your A/R could still go to .48 I have a 60 A/R 57 trim compressor and a .48 AR turbine and made 250 WHP @ 12 PSI. This was on a stock B16 with 9.0:1 compression (thicker headgasket) Stock compression would've netted me closer to 280 WHP.

dude your turbo isn't too big. its perfect for what you're doing. low boost should yield good power, and as you turn it up, you will still see good power increases. keep what you've got - everything should work out fine!

it is possible to run 3" dp with the right manifold or custom dp. prolly will have to go with a slim fan though. i say ditch the a/c, i know its comforting, but when you go to fix or work on the turbo / motor, the a/c is very much in the way. i enjoy sweating on short trips during the hot texas summer
and i would love to rev higher, i'm making power strong to 7500

i actually like no a/c. don't have to haul your friends around all summer and you can hitch rides boosted cars don't like heat anyways, so without a/c you won't want to drive far. i actually went all last summer (w/ stock d series) w/ no a/c just in preparation for my turbo install knowing i would lose a/c. wasn't bad at all - i love it
