im aware of this. im jsut wondering if gthere was maybe a crankshaft that would work both ways or valves. ect.. small things.
pistons of course wont work both ways. im just wondering if 85mm low compression is gonna work without blowing up. not NA obviously that would be a stone in the road.

Are you going to sleeve the motor? If not then hell no I would not put 85mm pistons in a stock block. Hell I wouldn't put 85mm pistons in regardless, I bought a set thinking that "bigger is better", ended up finding out that having too big of piston can be a bad thing, just like wantboost said "headgasket sealing issues" will arise according to most engine builders I talked to. Why not just stick with stock bore? Boost is the equalizer, not to mention if you blow it up you still have room left for rebuilds... If I could go back and do some things differently with my build, staying stock bore would be 1 of the things I would change instead of going 84mm. I would've just had sleeves put in the block, but kept the bore 81.
.040 comes out to what .5mm over bore? Alot of people go 81.5 on stock sleeves, idk to many people that go beyond that without sleeving the engine.
