Default B18B Civic ......How do you like it?

Hi

I have been thinking about the H22A or the B18B Turbo swap.

Can someone with the B18B turbo EG tell me how much that like the set-up? I am having a hard time making up my mind about the 2 swaps.

Thanks

I would think twice about the H22a in a civic. The engine doesn't fit particularly well and will upset the weight balance of your car among other things.

B18B with turbo in a hatch is just amazing.. 12's easily on 8psi stock motor..

and the potential is amazing.. power is so easy to come by once your turbo..

IM JBsadler, he may be selling his freak(266whp @8psi) B18B Drag3 setup in his hatch right now if he cannot find another hatch to swap it into..

I'd take a B18 motor over an H22 anyday. Less complications and tons of people have done it.. so you have somewhere to go for answers. Now, if money was no obstacle, the H22A will probably be better.. but I'm talking about changing everything out.. the only benefit would be a bigger block (sleeves).

B18B with 8psi can do 12's? How much HP is that?

Oh yes I am going to run an T04B turbo with that, is that good or too much lag?

I think i will do that, what's the max psi can the stock block hold safely?

Thanks

you can run 12's in a hatch with about 225whp.. assuming you can drive

a stock LS motor can handle 10-11psi easily with the right fuel and some people have taken it even further with tuning..

no a T04B is perfect for the LS, even the T04E will be good.. dont worry about lag, its not much..

i'd take the b18b with all that power you are gonna be making might as well save a tad more and get some LSD ( quaife, kaaz) to put that power to the ground

B18B, I'd think. All of the other guys are right on...the H22A is a more powerful motor (stock), but is H U G E compared do your current motor. Not only does that mean shoehorning (and possibly having to give up P/S and/or A/C to do so ) but the weight gain in the nose would be disastrous from a handling perspective. Bear in mind that a B18B1 will pull the Integra (which is almost 200 lbs heavier than your Civic) to 60 in 7.6 seconds, and down the 1320 in 15.5-16.0. A turbo B18B would have a negligble weight gain problem, so you wouldn't have to beef up the chassis and suspension quite as much...although it is still advisable, considering the power gain.

There is no question about it.....LS/Turbo is the way to go....plus LS motors cost half the price of GSR motors...

b18a/b is the way to go...the torque numbers stay close to the hp numbers when adding a lil dose of boost.
the gsr, or any vtec for that matter, when turboed, the torque numbers cant keep up the the hp numbers like the ls. imo

H22 all the way,way more power and even more impressive when u open the Hood to show it off,not too many H22 civics running around as compared to B18s
