B16a3 twinscroll advice needed
Hi I have a b16a3 that I just picked up and will be dropping in my EJ
I have a few ideas in mind for what I want to do.
I want to make a daily driver and I would like about 300-350ish whp
I really like the idea of using a twinscroll turbo charger and have found a good deal on a used evo turbo.
what I want to know is does anyone know what the fastest spooling twinscroll turbo is. I only wanna run maybe 12lbs of boost I just want those 12lbs to come as fast as possible.
and maybe some recomened upgrades beyond just a full rebuild and the obvious fuel pump some sort of managment and larger injectors
would 440cc dsm injectors be good enough or should I go larger?
Thanks for looking please don't kill the nubcakes

300-350whp can be easily done with the EVO turbo. But it will choke up top pretty bad. That B16 was designed to rev, so having a turbo that is designed for mid-range may be taking a step back.
Get the turbo to compliment the engine, and you get better results. A small turbo that spools fast and loses power up top will work, but ultimately I don't think you will be very happy with the results.
Using a 3071r will get you there as well.
440cc are too small for your power level. Look into a 600cc injector for safety. A 550cc will work to 350whp though.

so 550cc injectors for 350 whp ok
what cams would you recomend?

Re: B16a3 twinscroll advice needed
There isn't a real cam that I can recommend for the small-frame twinscroll setup. Most cams have a lot of overlap on the big lobes and while it helps mid-range, the top end suffers a bit.
You can make good power, don't get me wrong. I don't have any real recommendations though. Best thing you can prob do is keep the backpressure to a minimum with the stock cams.

Re: B16a3 twinscroll advice needed
So I was reading on the twinscroll greddy turbo and from what I have seen the evo kids are saying it is garbage and pretty spendy
which has me rethinging the twinscroll all together
any advise on a stable setup for my power goals

Re: B16a3 twinscroll advice needed
After numerous tests with my twinscroll setup, I have given up on it. Perhaps in the future with a T4 manifold I will reconsider. But the open scroll seems to have it beat in top end power delivery, and all that quick spool causes my 3076r to surge like crazy on high boost.
The 3071r is a lot better than the 3076r imho. For many reasons I don't really wanna go into. Either 3071r, or 35r. The 3076r really shines on the .82 housing though, but you are a B16 so it may be a bit big, at least for what you want.
