b16 turbo questions
well i spun a bearing in my gsr bottom end and my buddy is giving me his complete b16a3 to run in my car for the mean time with my gsr head... now here is what i am curious about, a 1 layer head gasket will take me up to 11.1 compression... and oem gasket will take me to 10.5... i was wondering which would make more power.. 11.0 compression at 8 pounds of boost or 10.5 compression at 10 pounds of boost... or the 2 layer which will yeild about 10.7 at 10 pounds of boost.. now keep in mind this is a temp setup til i get my gsr built i would like to be around the hp of my previous setup... i want around 350whp.. i have typical mustang owner i need to shut up lol

Well, if you are thinking of putting a 1 layer HG on the car and then re using the stock bolts, you are already on the wrong track.
I for one wouldn't even reuse the stock bolts on a nitrous motor with a small shot, much less an 11:1 motor that will see boost all the time. When you bump the compression, the room for error get's smaller and from the sounds of it, you guys don't need it any smaller. If he is giving you the complete A3, just run it like that, the B16 head flows better than the GSR head anyway, no need to try and add more compression and give you an even better chance of making it puke everywhere. Just run it like it is. If you insist on putting on a GSR head for some reason, then spend the cash to get some head studs and find a good tuner.
