i installed a typer diff into my b16 tranny, i used the gsr countershaft and put all my gears onto it. used the b16 input shaft. I have a nice whinning/mild grinding noise from the trans when in gear. I pulled it out and checked everything without finding any problems. Any one have any ideas?

One thing that concerns me is that the diff had bearing and race combo and the diff i pulled out of the b16 had a sealled bearing. I used all the spacers that i got the diff out of. I have installed typer diffs into gsr trannys without any problems, but that is the only thing i can think of.

 

sounds like something is not shimmed properly.

 

What diff ring gear did you use?

 

gsr ring gear.... i found some of the problem, i mis-counted teeth and i had the incorrect gears together (gsr/b16). This time i am going to use the correct gears and i will use my FSM for reference on the clearances.

I pulled it twice and couldnt find the problem so i went ahead and ran it to see what broke and a gear failure did the trick.

In thoery this tranny should work... has anyone tried this?
