B, E, or S compressor cover?
Would there be any difference in power delivery between these compressor covers on say a 5557? The shop whom sleeved my block has a few turbos they sell and some are used from some of the guys in the shop/customers. Says he could give me the 5557 in a E cover with the "cea" wheel for $450 used.
Apart from the actual condition of said turbocharger, what difference would the cover make? Iv pulled this turbo up online and they offer B,E,S covers, but it looks like the only difference is the in/outlet diameter.
This is what the intarweb says about these covers on this turbo
B= 2.8'' inlet, 2.0'' outlet
E= 3.0'' inlet, 2.0'' outlet
S= 4.0'' inlet, 2.5'' outlet
And there is a ported S cover as well with the same dimensions. Is it a matter of preference or is there a performance difference between covers?
Thanks guys!

It really depends upon what wheel is in the compressor cover. the power outlet differences don't get big until you're using some big wheels over 60lbs/min +. Otherwise its more of a matter of fitment.
For the 5857, which is about 56-59lbs/min, (speculative), a B or E would be fine. S is only if you want BIG looks.

Thanks TheShodan. You've answered pretty much all of my questions on here. Guess i'll check out the condition of it and go from there. So the S cover on a 5857 or 5557 is more of an aesthetic choice? Make it look like you've got a lot more under the hood eh? odd..
