Autometer boost gauge map sensor? Use for engine management also?
Instead of buying a seperate 3 bar map to use for engine management, can I just tap into the autometer map that came with my gauge. Just a thought I had. The gauge is good up to 30psi, which leads me to believe that there's a 3 bar in there. 3 bar GM map is good up to 28psi.
Anybody ever do this? Because if I can save me a few bucks I will.
Thanks.

i just got off the phone with autometer's technical support and they did confirm that if you have the electrical boost gauge that reads up to 30psi then the map sensor included is indeed a 3-bar MAP sensor.
can anyone with experience vouch for that?

'tapping off' of a map sensor doesn't sit right with me. I can't see why anyone would even consider it. It's one of the most important sensors in your engine bay....
No, You cannot tap the wiring together to read off the same sensor for gauge and ecu. Run 2 map sensors and make sure you use a good vac source for both bringin it back from the dead for an answer
Why wouldn't it work. Its basically just sending an electrical signal threw a wire as long as the wire is the right gauge size to support the current why not? Just because its a map sensor? If you can do it with any other "sensor" what would. Be the problem. It sends a signal based on vac. And boost. But all in all its still a signal.
