i'm not up on the strength of the auto trannies, but it depends on your power goals...IMO, the easiest way is an Auto=>Manual swap and boost

No problem. I have converted some OBD2 auto LS cars to OBD1 and tuned them on Crome.

not sure how much power u could make safely on the tranny but i would think 200-250 would be easy on the tranny. the motor is good for 300-350. maybe u can look up wat you can do to upgrade the tranny with. turbo+ AT= hard as launches and no missed shifts.

i did in my integra, the tranny was strong it would spin the tires if i wanted it too, the tranny lasted over 2 months then blew and just swapped an itr into it. it was pretty cool because i still had PS A/c and ect, and beat alot of cars

I don't know about you guys, but around where I live, people practically give away automatic b-series transmissions. I've had one for 2 years sitting in my garage that I've been using as a table. They are easy to come by.

I would think 7psi on your average t3t4 would be ok on a auto trans.

Yeah, go for it, but its still going to be slow and shitty. Also, either get the largest possible transmission cooler or a few extra LS trannys, because they're going to go every couple of weeks if you drive the car a lot.

Auto trannies aren't cheap to rebuild, since not many people do it, and you really need OEM parts. The trannies aren't in big demand, so its probably cheaper to just buy & replace.

If I was to do this, I'd get something like a 60trim T3, a 50trim t3t04e, or a s-trim t3/t04b - all with a stg3 .63ar exhaust if possible. I wouldn't go more than 7psi with any of them, as thats ~250whp at the least on a manual, which would be about ~215whp with a slushbox.

I almost want to try the auto in my '91 LX when I put the obd1 stuff back on, but I already have the swap items & its a direct swap. I'd almost hate to ruin it, as the tranny shifts hard like my firebird's th350 w/B&M stg2 shift kit.

i wouldnt turbo my dd... dd's are supposed to be slow lol that way when you drive the other car it seems that much faster but if you did turbo the car it wouldnt be near as reliable as it is right now. with all the money you put into a turbo setup and tune you could build a high comp. na car and still drive it everyday with out any issues about shreddin the trans

There have to be some companies out there that build import fwd trannies, like maybe level10? I would actually Prefer a strong automatic and a higher stall converter over a manual in a turbo car. (esp in something like a wrx, with awd) The shock loads under shifting would be less, the boost would build more quickly because of the converter, and your launch would be better. Basically, all the power would be more easily controllable, right there under your foot. I say look for a company that builds these trannies up, and go for it.
p.s. Why would you have to remove your abs? You wouldn't.
