Default Authentic Garrett turbo?

Does this look real or fake? already had him measure the compressor wheel and it measures out at a 50trim

water and oil cooled with a .63 hotside... but no garrett badges or anything
said he purchased it with a twin turbo kit and ended up selling everything and not doing it

The only thing that stuck out was the font of the number 5 on the "A/R 0.50".

Compare to this housing.

It was the only one I saw that said 0.50, most were 0.60 or 0.70 that I found quickly looking. But they had normal looking fonts.

Looks like a genuine Garrett, especially based upon the backplate. . See if there is an "A" on the cartridge that is stamped in.

using some older equipment, but "trim" doesn't say much. What's the inducer/exducer measurements?

The G on the compressor housing looks kinda fishy to me.

Looks good to me. Also looks like an older V1 trim compressor wheel with an older stage II wheel. good to over 380whp. It will use 3/8NPT water fittings.

Your guy is wrong. there are PLENTY of units that are watercooled that are not ball-bearing.

Watercooling is necessity for ball-bearing cartridges, not a sufficiency.

That also isn't a good indicator... On *most* ball bearing turbos, if you have the magic touch, you can feel the difference between a journal bearing and ball bearing if you slowly and delicately rotate the wheels. Only way to be 100% for sure is to take it apart... in this instance you do not have to though.

"The Shodan" has spoken, and you have bowed down in awe.

And what would "blowing through the housing" accomplish? You don't want to use compressed air on a dry turbocharger like that.
