Default ARP Headstud Washers

I have been collecting parts for my turbo d16 for a while now (about 2 years)

I buy the parts as i find them cheap.

I found a set of ARP headstuds about a year ago on ebay for about 40 bucks and won them on the first bid.

I noticed the ebay picture didnt have the washers pictured so i asked the seller, "do you have the washers for the studs" for which he replied, "yes"

anyways, i got them in the mail and put them aside.

I started to assemble the motor and put the studs in, headgasket on, head on and went to put the washers over the top of the stud and what do you know, the inner diameter on the washers are too small.

it appears this turd took his stock head bolts, cut them in half and took the washers off the stock head studs.

I called ARP to buy new washers and they told me to call a local distributor of their studs and sent me a few numbers for local distributors.

All of them told me they dont even sell ARP stuff. Wow

So here is my question.

Can i take the stock washers and bore the center out and make them work? Or do i have to have the ARP ones?

if i need the ARP ones, then ill just have to find somewhere else to buy them.

thanks

I bet you can find a set of used washes for cheap on here since people most people only resuse the studs 3x (I think). Hell, i may have an extra set for a b-series. I will try to remember to look for you.

To answer your question, I think any washer would be fine, but I am definitely not an expert.

thanks for the info

i know from searching that the ARP washers are slightly concave, they arent completely flat.

so i know any washer wont work. i guess one side being concave makes it like a spring when you torque it down, it keeps the nut from being able to loosen up from vibration, heat, etc

also, i think the B series washers are 11mm diameter while the D series are 10mm inner diameter
