id like to know if there are any notable differances in underhood temps, and spool up time. also, how does heatwrap compare?

Heatwrap is better but not as purty.

Also, on a full race mani, space is a concern, possibly wrapping that mani would make it hit the hood. I know mine is close and its only thermal coated.

The headers on my moms 1980 383 stroker Corvette were coated by SwainTech. I don't have any numbers, but its definitely nowhere near as hot under the hood, which is really noticable with such a cramped engine bay.

We did a snowmobile pipe with Swain Tech coating and the pistons with their Gold Coat. Awesome company. It really helped.

are there any differances between swain, and something like a jet-hot coating? meaning, does one perform better than the other? how long do coatings last? do they coat the inside? or can it be done?

Yes they coat inside and out...

Swaintech claims to have the thickest coating.

No but if people are really interested I will use a similar equal length exhaust manifold for testing.

A lot of companies coat the inside and outside He means is there a difference in the coating ingredients (for lack of a better term) and process.

im interested. id like to know the differance's between

- a "bare" manifold
- a coated manifold
- and finally, a heatwrapped manifold

i know its a pita to swap manifold's and ****, but maybe a few users can chime in with underhood temps, so you will not be the one stuck doing all the work, for us lousy h-t users.

thanks for everyones help.

Ok. I will go ahead and do the tests. It will take some time due to a couple things but I will do it. I have access to a One Fabrication coated exhaust manifold and a Full Race uncoated exhaust manifold.

I'm not sure if he is a sponsor but TheShodan does coatings. He is a great guy. I can't forget Swain Tech. Richard Tucker at Swain Tech is a great guy as well.

SwainTech is awesome. They get things done really quick.

Then again it helps to be like 5 miles down the road.
