Default Anyone run a straight T4?

I can get a straight TO4E for about 300 bucks CND less than a t4/t3 from this shop that rebuilds turbos and such. The guy I talked to says that t4 turbos are used more often, industrial or otherwise, than the t3, which is automotive, hence the price difference. Im just wondering what kind of characteristics you would see witha straight t4, as opposed to the proven t4/t3 hybrid that everyone loves so much.

Let see...on average, T3/T4 makes max boost at less then 4k....

By then T4 hasn't even started to spool up yet. T4 is mostly for hardcore racers, people that want topppp end.

Thats what I was thinking. Any higher than a 4500 spool up is a bit too extreme for my needs. I thought the kid at the shop downplayed the difference between the two turbos a little too much.

Sweet, full boost at 6K, hehe. Not good for a LS/CRV redline of 6,800.

well i have a to4e and it hits boost at 3000 and full boost at 4500. im running a stock b16 and only pushing 4 psi but i have had it up to 8 and it is sick will out run a t3/t4 anyday it your motor is top end motor then this is the turbo for you the only thing that sucks is it does spool a lil bit slow but its worth the wait when you blow the doors of kids and their drag setups.

I am running a straight T4 in my car. Spools up somewhere around 4300-4600. Feels nice.

Thats not too bad...

On a side note, all the people that have been instant messaging me about the 300 dollar t4, I said I could get it for 300 LESS than a t3/t4, not just 300 dollars. I think id have one already if that was the case.

You are confusing what you have, with a true T4. You have what most of us have, a t3/t04b hybrid. It's a t3 exhaust housing matted to a t4 intake side.

I doubt you're blowing doors off kids with drag setups, considering it's the same turbo!

I can get an T04B for 395.00 plus shipping. Is that a good price?

I don't know the specs, but the company told me it's the smallest T04B that Garrett has.

I remember the ex side is .63 or something like that.

Thanks

Yo karl who made your T4 manifold and your piping information. I just won a auction for a T4 but its a tang/dividen t4 should I get it or is it going to be a pain in the *** to get a manifold for it.

well im running a full t4 all the way not a t3/t04e like the drag kit. my exhaust is a .58 and the compressor is a .60. it has more top end than anycar with a drag i have been in and i have yet to lose to anyone with a drag setup weither it be a an ls an si or a gsr they take me in 1st but top of 2nd and all 3rd and 4th i run away from them.Drag kits are nice entry level turbo kits they look nice and make good power but everyone dumps them after a year to go bigger cause a full t-4 has alot more potential than a t3/t4. but with only 4 psi i have no complaints and i can only for faster from there.
