not VB. i figure the only reason you want to know is so you can disassemble it, like the maker of CHROME did.

You never know - he might just be curious. I am too, but that doesn't mean I'm stealing Blake's code. IMO the bulk of the thought process isn't in the GUI, it's in the BINs. The GUI's just the frontend. I'm curious to know how the BINs work too - again, not because I want to steal his work and relabel it as my own, just because I like knowing things, and being a CompSci graduate makes me naturally inquisitive about all things software

he probably didn't write it in C+, but maybe C++

you don't need to know the original language to disassemble a program. disassembling gives you assembly code, which is basically the binary written in "words" instead of 0's and 1's. decompilers are what take a binary and try to guess the code that made it.

Comon man, weve talked a few times on here and I dont think I ever gave you the impression before that I am like that. I'm not gonna blow up and cuss you out though like others on here would. lol
No, the reason I'm asking is because I have a crappy laptop that I wanted to run Uberdata on. I cant see everything (cant resize past 800x600) so wanted to ask a friend of mine that can program to add slider bars on my copy of Uberdata. I didnt want to trouble Blake with it thats why i was asking.

sorry couldnt remember talking to you. just very cautious because of the recent chrome release which is uberdata decompiled and rewritten slightly.

uberchip = crome? once i decided on aem ems i forgot about the idea of using the uberchip... i would like to take a look at that code also (im a CS major also and have curiosity in many ways, style, form, complexity, etc...)

CS major here as well
i remember reading what he used...i even remember the screen shots of the IDE running but i cant remember for sure what it was. i think it was visual c++ if i remember right. i agree with the statement that it cant be that complicated though....all you're doing is changing hex values in a file.

Re: Anyone know what programming language Uberdata is written with? (ekb18c)
i know it has been said before, i am also a computer science major(almost finished but not done yet ). I dont actually use the software but i would like to know more about the writing of the information into the bin files. i think that it is written in c++. I am not sure if anyone can answer these questions other than the coder but does the order of the file written have to do with the chip being installed in the ecu ie: 29x256 or 27x256 (whatever it is). I am not sure if the designer want his design discussed but it would eb interesting the amount of innovation that would occur if we could make an open source version of this .

Re: Anyone know what programming language Uberdata is written with? (nijia555)
Over half the ppl in this thread seem to be compsci majors... and seriously it's just going to be complexity in the BIN, probably any CS major here and a few not could rewrite the GUI end of things given enough time.
So why don't we all see if we can figure out/find out WITHOUT DECOMPILING ANYTHING what exactly comprises the BINs? I know the formats differ (try opening a GhettoDyne BIN in Uberdata) so I consider them to be more small programs than standardized hex tables.
I'd like to be in on an open-source editor though
nijia555, I don't think the chip matters so much - I think the only major differences between the 27c256 and the 29c256 would be the style of flashing the ROM.
