Yea measure the lobes for lift

Here's how you do it:

Get a set of dial or digital calipers
Measure the base circle (where the lobe hasn't started, the circular part) then measure the vtec lobe from the bottom of the cam to the top of the lobe. Subtract the base circle from the lobe measurements and there's your gross lift. You can search on that along with the numbers on the cam and figure out what they are

Also, clearer pictures of the ends of the cam would help a lot. As those are impossible to read

What brands use an etching gun on their cams?

I know Crane does.

No. Skunk does not any longer (haven't for about 3 years), GSC does not, and neither does Kelford, Tomei, Toda Racing, or Edlebrock. I'm not sure about SVM, Rocket, or DDTECH.

What about web?

That number could just be a unique identifier to the company that made a custom grind

what about the cams Edelbrock made?

I would simply start emailing every cam company we've listed with the pics and the numbers off the cam until you figure it out

List of companies:

Blox
Rocket Motorsports
Brian Crower
Crower
Edelbrock
Comp
Zex
GSC (doutful it's one of theirs)
Web
Jun
Skunk2
Laskey Racing (they made custom grinds)

that is all I can think of at the moment. like I sad just shoot them and email and include the motor/engine code you're using, pics of the cams (lobes as well and any identifying marks anywhere on the castings) as well as the pics of the etched numbers (try taking a pic with better focus for the numbers) then list the numbers separately (type them out... duh lol)

and hope for a response

I'm sure I'm forgetting some companies

also something I just thought of, they could be OBX cams or any of the typical vtec cams peddled on ebay (I.E. cheap copies)

why not just take it to a cam grinder and ask to have it dialed for its specs

it already had duration listed

I can measure lobes with a pair of calipers and find cam lift... hell anyone can do it

what you won't know, even if a cam guy measures both cams is center line, LSA, lift at the valve, and so on... you can only get gross lift at the cam, it's not like measuring a sohc cam or a pushrod v8 cam... you need the cam card from the cam maker to truly know what you hae

thanks everyone,

i forgot to post what my search results where, i contacted the guy who owned the car when he put those cams in and he ordered a stage one comp/zex cams and installed them in the car and then sold it,

but after some research i found out he got the wrong cams, these are the comp/zex 59300 so great cams but the motor had stock valvetrain so i guess it's luck that the motor is still ok after 20.000km

you could always try an acid reagent to bring out those faded numbers, basically acid etching, brings that stuff to the surface. similar to how criminalists bring back destroyed serial numbers on firearms

its a decent amount of effort but if it helps you figure out what they are... then I'd say time well spent

That intake cam has a 260 degree duration, I can't see the exh but it looks like the exh is stamped too. Those aren't crane or comp, they didn't make anything that big, that MIGHT be a custom spec cam from someone like schinder or something.

Glad to hear

Now you need to figure out if this is an appropriate cam choice for your build
