Default anyone ever do something like this?

Believe it or not i might actually use a hole-saw to cut these 2 holes in my front bumper.

My front bumper supports are gone anyways because of IC so there is nothing behind it and my fan will now be able to pull in cool air. Not to mention the fresh air just flowing in anyhow. I'm thinking this may keep underhood temps down also.

I can even fit this 2" pvc directly in and directly to the fan.

My front bumper and grill are a little messed up anyways and easily replaceable, and this car won't be driven in the rain.. So does anyone think this may actually be worth doing?

No, not at all.

I'm 99.17% sure you'll end up regreting drilling holes into your bumper. Are you overheating with the setup as it is? If not, theres no need to do what your planning.

I honestly don't care if it looks shitty as long as it's functional..as i said, it needs replacing anyways if i really don't like it. IMO this is better than the ugly predator hoods and such. I'm just not feeling any of the vented hoods out there for the Integra and my underhoodtemps are ridiculous and starting to crack my paint..

Do the niffty JDM hood tilt thing. It costs less, completely functional, and doesn't look like complete ***.

If you want you should do it.It will probably actually work pretty well. And besides how many people cut like 12 holes in their back bumper on a street car??....Cutting 2 holes in your front bumper will look better than that anyday, and it might actually be functional..i say do it..if you dont like it you could always get a new front bumper cover.

It is where you put washers between the hinge and the hood to make a crack. It allows the hot air to escape or at least that is what it is supposed to do.

You could always cut a long slit with rounded ends. Might look better than two 3" holes and still give you some more airflow there.

I did this to my crx, drilled 4 holes with a holesaw across the passenger side front, allowed more airflow to the radiator, the holes combined with some DIY ductwork helped my overheating problem! I will get pics for you, its really not too bad looking. I was about to do anything to solve the problem

It works opposite, its actually cowl induction (V8 Meat heads have done it for years) and it sucks cold air in, rather then pushing air out, I did this as well to help contribute to solving my overheating problems

yep, because there is a high-pressure build up at the bottom of the windshield.. it flows into the engine bay.

Which would be perfect for his situation.

Or he could just coat the manifold, and wrap the DP.

I see a lot of DSM'ers do this but I'd explore other options before making something irreversible. Also, I'm no engineer but I know on some factory cars that have ram air, it becomes useless at higher speeds due to air pressure/aerodynamics...'n stuff...something to discuss maybee.

dremel FTW. Evo bumpers come like this from the factory. granted mine isnt as nice bc I didnt take the time to worry about it. but it took about 15min to cut. then I just epoxy'd some screen on the backside.

have you personally done this yourself?

i have, before i did the hood prop, going off EGT temps i was running about 800*C this was in a EG where there is minimal bumper openings, especially with a big front mount taking up the whole opening.

after hood prop, my EGT temps dropped 50-75*C ... so it did have a cooling effect on the overall operation of the motor.

whether drawing in air/ pulling air out...fresh cooler air in my engine bay gets a from me.

plus to some people the hood tilt looks good... remember to each his own, its not your car.

to the OP, if you set on cutting the holes in the front bumper, the long oval holes would look more aesthetically pleasing than 3" holes. Or try the hood prop if you want more air flow into the engine bay.
