Default another one laid to rest...

well....first. . .I noticed I wasn't boosting as much. . .now I noticed whtie smoke coming from the exhaust. . . ran a compression test. . .200/200/200/210 (civic ex SOHC) . . o.k that's good. Ran a test to see if my head gasket was blown. . .came out fine. . .hmmm . . .what the hell could it be. . .took the pipe off the turbo. . .and what do ya know it's spitin' oil. . .damn it I blew the turbo! That's sucks. . .looks like I gotta do a rebuild. . .I was so pissed off I thought of straying away from the darkside. . .but then I realized how much I like it!!

just wondering how old was your turbo...years and miles. What exactly happened to your turbo??? Did you run it at full boost like for top speed? Just wondering cause Ive never blown one but Ive also never gone high boost. Go ball bearing if you already havent.

yea I tripped out two...I did one about 2 months ago. . .and it was the same . . .did another one Wed. and you got the #'s up top. . .I'd say the test is good.

Burner- I bought the kit used. . .so I really can't give you and exact year/milege. . .but I just use it for street. . .didn't have a chance to make it to the track.. . .I was boosting at 7psi . . .I boosted at 13psi twice. . .hehehe. . .homemade boost controller. . .I have a feeling that might of had something to do with it. There's a turbo place nearby I'm going there on Mon. . .I'm either gonna trade it + cash for a new one or have it repaired and upgrade the propeller. . .it was a greddy by the way.

are you rebuilding your own? I can't believe this is so common. My brand new Turbonetics is back at the factory getting rebuilt. Only 500miles on it. They better do it for nothing and not go telling me it was something I did.

I just wrote you a week ago about that, why did you boost that much without your inline fp? 13psi JEEZZZ!!!! All I have to say is, you're nutz. Didn't you hear any detonation?

I did the 13 psi before I talked to last week. . .that was the problem all along. . .I blew the son-bitch. . .inline goes in on Tuesday. . .not that I really need it right now.. . . Yea I was worried about detonation but I ran a couple of tests and the engine is good...actually above ave. pretty good for a engine with 100k.

Well, at least there was no detonation. BTW..how long did you boost at 13psi? It couldn't have been that long?!

were you running the turbo the 1st time when you did the test? if so maybe you had oil seeping in there, thus causing it to indicate a higher psi.

if not that is a high number regardless

no...I did the first comp. test a month before I even ordered the turbo. I had 200psi across all four. When I ran the test with the turbo it was the #'s stated above.

dragII--yea the hose going from the throttle body to the back of the head was poped off. . .hence white smoke.

quikrpm- most of the white smoke was from the problem above. . .it's burning just a little bit of oil, and I mean a real little bit.. . .and yes I have been checking the oil. . .it's fine.
