Default Another Oil Restrictor Question???

If got a turbonetics t3 on a d-series, i seem to be getting some smoke uppon decelleration and a small puff right after i lightly touch the throttle. The motor has been rebuilt with new rings and valve seals.

I have not gotten around to pulling a charge pipe to look for oil in there yet but im thinking that ive got oil going past the seals in the turbo. It only has like 3000km on it.

I know that turbonetics says not to use a restrictor! and some people say do and some people say dont.

My question is: If i put a restrictor in and i dont 100% need it am i going to be hurting the turbo or starving it for oil???

Yes it can cause your turbo to fail.
What kind of drain set up do you have?

what turbodano means specifically is "are there any kinks, or 90 degree AN fittings used on your oil return?" How is the manifold set? Do you have pictoral examples of your return line setup?

No i dont have pics, Its an sls ram horn mani. The drain is not any fancy an fittings it is just a piece of hose clamped onto barbed fittings on both ends, No 90's or kinks Just a nice long 90' curve. I think its about 5/8" hose??

I love the SLS manifolds, but they sit the turbo rather low to the point where the drain is almost parallel with the pan, especially if you have a Moroso pan. If there is not a good gravity slope to it, the oil could easily get backed up. Get rid of the 90 degree slope. You may have a drain issue.. Pics will help as soon as possible.
