Re: am I crazy?? (turboteg2nv)
cool,....thanks. I used masking tape (for the straight lines) and a container of pvc pipe glue (as a stencil for the curves at the end of each slot) and a die cutter to cut/grind away the unneeded polyurethane. The whole bumper took about 4 hrs total after sanding and everything. Its at the paint booth right now getting some blemishes fixed. As soon as I get it back,....Ive got some black mesh that is going in behind the new holes.

Nope you arent crazy. Saw 30-40 degree temperature drops...(from 270 to a manageable 230ish).</TD></TR></TABLE>
^^^Umm that looks badass, but if you cut off those grid looking things covering the intercooler that would make it look 10 fold better
The original poster...the cuts look good

I used an aluminum plate on the bottom and the top of the radoator/intercooler/oil cooler stack to force air through rather than spilling out the top and bottom.

Re: am I crazy?? (nfn15037)
i THOUGHT ABOUT DOIN THAT (aluminum air director)BUT GOT LAZY AND DECIDED TO TRY JUST CUTTIN THE HOLES (BY THE WAY THERER ARE HOLES IN THE BUMPER "FRAME" ALSO SO THAT AIR CAN ACTUALLY GET TO THE RADIATOR) Sory for caps.... I was gonna fab ub some fiberglass thingy though. If it hadnt worked so well the way I did it, I wouldve taken the extra time to "force induct" air into my radiator.
Do YOU HAVE ANY PICS OF THE ALUMINUM AIR DIRECTOR? [sorry bout caps, im retarted and my comp keyboard has a mind of its own,.......no,......honestly,........ i cant type wortha crap!!!]

Re: am I crazy?? (mike1114)
that was gonna be my next DIY project, however, I wanna use my cf hood (its all cracked up anyways) I will have to do a good bit of fiberglass work and unlike the 240 sx in that post, cf doest bend so i will have to make the whole piece. Thats the only reason why I havent done it already. That and Im a lazy bastard.

It wasnt really a "planned" event. Did this at the track with the help(and tools), of a friend. Before this, it was a perfectly fine stock bumper, with everything in-tact. I plan on just completely gutting the bumper once I get a stock replacement, so everything is wide-open.
We have a lot of crap on our roads up here, I nailed a blown tire and very luckily I had the stock grille in place, otherwise I wouldve needed a new FMIC. No thanks

Re: am I crazy?? (allanonjj)
I had asked about this the other year. And people on here said air would get trapped under the hood and put alot of upward pressure on the hood. I was going to do this once I got a vented hood to let the air escape.

Re: (adSPEED)
Has anyone tried adding a carbon fiber STi scoop on their hood? They just bolt up and I've thought about trying it, but I'd be scared to ruin my hood and my luck it would end up looking like ****

You want the scoop facing your window, not to the front of the car. With it facing away from the front, when you are moving it will create a draft and suck the hot air out of your engine bay.
Its pretty popular thing to do in the DSM world...and really does help keep engine bay temps down. Ive been thinking about modifing a cf hood (as i dont want to cut a big hole in my factory hood) with a scoop like this one in the picture below.
