Default Alternator toast

I need some serious help here, I've got an f22b2 in my honda accord turbo. I have burned up 3 alternators. Is there an alternator relocation kit for my car or do I have to look into an alternative option.

could we get some more details?

I asume since you posted this in the F/I forum, you believe your alternator failure is do to underhood heat possibly? or radiating heat from per say a downpipe or whatnot in proximity to your alternator?

more info.

Sorry for the lack of details. Yes its definetly underhood head. I have insulated the turbo and some of the exhaust right up until it gets next to the alternator. I believe it to be heat radiating from the exhast becuase there is maybe 2 inches between the harness on the alternator and the exhast coming off the turbo and wastegate.

Under full boost i hit 1300 degrees on the EGT.

hrm, well my downpipe is also in proximity to my alternator (f series accord with a custom kit on it here too)... so far so good for the last couple years since I have been turbocharged (knock on wood).

maybe start with heat wrap continued on the section of the downpipe in that area near the downpipe. might also even consider constructing a basic heat shield.

by chance you have any pics of the alternator and the clearance you have to work with? see any damage possibly to that wiring feeding to the alternator on the backside?

Yes part of the harness is melted itself. the exhast comes to within an 1" of the alternator before turning downward. I am wondering if I need a new exhast. Also did you have problems with oil spitting out the back of your engine? I've ruled out a manifold leak. got pics of your setup?

what exactly do you mean oil spitting out of the back of the motor... where, how much, etc? that generally not a good thing obviously.

as for the wiring, obviously you need to repair that if you have not already and consider investing in a heat sleeve to run the wiring through.

I do not have any pics of my setup or specifically a close shot of the clearance between my dp/ alternator on this computer... I am not at home at this moment in time.

if you get a chance though you should take some of yours and post of your clearance and maybe your oil problem.

yea my dp sucks ballz, the company that did it destroyed my first turbo in the process so i am sueing them. I am thinking of getting the 3" vband downpipe and bolting that up to my exhast for clearance. Naturally i have to buy a new alternator. I will take a pic of my clearance when I get home. I'm on duty right now.

Here is a picture of my setup you can see I have ZERO room for clearance between the exhaust and the alternator. it's a 3" dp but it comes off the hot side alittle before turning downward. Should invest in the 3" 90 degree flex v band that atp has? or .... umm yea That's the only option i can think of. I can't insulate the alternator becuase it has to breathe itself. This is a new alternator I just installed this morning. I finally got one with a lifetime warranty.

Yes i'm pretty sure, the first engine never gave me trouble with alternators going out. the only thing that has changed would be the exhaust. Now I pulled it off the car today and notice there are some noticeable leaks on it. aside from that I have no idea. Anyone know of a company the sells turbo downpipes for the accord? Aside from Drag , turbo-kits.com, and turbonetics, and HPF? They don't make them anymore.
