f-max did the same **** to me, I was able to tell when i first looked at the turbo. I sent it back to them and made them send me a stage 3 63 ar. My car feels strong, I haven't dynoed it yet but the torque steer pulls the steering wheel out of my hands.

Dustin, didn't you say you were hitting full boost about 4100 rpms? That seems kinda laggy for a smaller turbo.

I thought I was... but I went out today on the highway and I was able to hit full boost before 3500rpm... heh. I had never paid attention before I guess. My old turbo hit full boost about 4000.

Looks a LOT like my dyno run with an 0.48 on my GSR. Sucks, don't it?

most turbos will have the AR stamped on the inside of the exhaust housing inlet, look there.

Dustin if you measure the I.D. of the turbine outlet it should be 2.25". Somewhat less than that for a Stage2.

It LOOKS like a Stage2 just judging by the excess machined flat metal around the turbine.

The housing LOOKS like a .48 too. .63's are more "beefy" looking....ha

0.48 should flow plenty for a stock LS engine

Dustin!! I always wondered why yours was putting out so low on the dyno especially on your setup and would imagine, you would be up par with Art or even more!! Sorry Art, not dissing you or anything.

Now, we'll see how much more you can put up with with the corrected spec turbo and for once, please run your car at Sac!!

Look on the inside of the turbine for the correct A/R number. Disregard the number on the outside.

It's a serious pain to pull the turbo off to see the stamp... Outlet is 2.25" maybe a little less, hard to get an accurate measurement. It's a .48 housing for sure.

I get full boost by 3500 with this turbo heh... so I know it's not the right one.

Hey dustin,
Check out the chart in the link below in the T3 section labeled EXDUCER DIA.
You can measure the outlet diameter with some calipers, then take some feeler gauges and gently measure the gap from the blade to the outlet. Multiply the gap by 2 and subtract from the outlet measurement to obtain which stage you actually have. Or this...
~(2.250" - 2.122") / 2 = roughly .064" gap = stage 2 wheel
or...
~(2.250" - 2.229") / 2 = .010½" gap = stage 3 wheel
http://www.turboneticsinc.com/catalog/twheel.html

Good luck fella! I hope you get it all straightened out soon. I can't wait to see some real numbers, especially since you seem to do things the "right" way. I'm still diggin' your fuel set-up!
Take care,

Atta-boy! I wouldn't take anybody's word for it (if there's a way to measure it). When I got my kit, it seemed like it was some big secret as to which trim level, etc. the GS-R Drag kit came with, so I measured everthing for myself. Now it's a known fact which trim they should come with. Unfortunately for you, somebody goofed twice.

Let me ask you this... what levels are you planning to boost to once you get everything squared away? I've been looking at several compressor maps and it appears to me that a T3/T04E "50" trim compressor and A/R .63 stage 3 turbine would be best suited (if not ideal)to a GS-R motor in the 10 to almost 20 psi range. I wonder why most people seem to prefer the 57 trim and 60-1? I know which one I'd choose. Just somethin' else to think about when you order your next turbo. Do the math and see which setup is best for your goals.
