this was a completely stock GSR motor that we tested the chassis and electronics with. But we need to figure it out before the race engine goes in for the new season starts.

spark plugs, cap, rotor, coil, maybe change the distributor.......will the factory ecu rev higher?? or you could try adjusting the the coil dwell time on the aem??

Are you using a cd ignition box (MSD)? There are issues with RFI and AEM EMS. AEM EMS does not have noise suppression, so that sometimes causes the ignition to break up. Happens often with MSD ignitions.. If you are usinf stock, I would check the cap, rotor, coil first..

We have seen this many times....Ill need the box # Serial # type of distributor and a copy of the Map to compare to a few maps here to find the exact problem...but it sounds like you have some problems in the setup of the cam/crank and injector phasing....these options were incorrect in early versions of the firmware and software...if you updated, these options will remain incorrect.

What distributor do you have? Timing errors? Synch errors? What does the T2PER parameter show throughout the pull? New plugs?

If you have msd ignition box get rid of it..Alot of cars have problems with breakup with msd's and they get rid of it and its gone..I had problems with msds on my old rx-7..Maybe something else though in your case..

When it comes to electrical stuff I always find that it is easier to do process of elimination so try to just get it to start without the msd and see if it works?I also had a ignition coil or driver go bad in my aem about a month ago so maybe thats the problem but i wouldnt know how to check for that?

i belive you could test for voltage at the specified output on the ecu. either that or check in your aem user manual that came with the ecu, and move the wire to a differant location(a known working one)

I went through the same problems as you stated. I would hit a hard cut at 7000 and it seems like everything i did would not help the problem out. After 40 more pulls on the dyno, I said F it and went to a Hall Sensor from Tony at T1 and it fixed everything. Also i was funning a Digi 6 with a Blaster SS.

try swapping to a different distributor that is known to be running. had issues like that before misfiring at 5k on my aem 30-1000. swapped my friends dizzy and problem gone.
