I had the understanding that that has been around ever since the EMS came out? I know they've had a model that you can wire up to any car, maybe this one is a different model?

doubtfull, for one I never heard of it, secondly this thing has in built in injector drivers, my ems doesnt have that I have a resistor box *grumbles*

This new box uses a unterminated harness that you have to cut and trim. Before this was released, I think a lot of people used the 1050 honda box.
