AEM is better, but Hondata is cheaper.
Both will do the job perfect.

I gotta say I love the AEM after trying it on my friends DSM. It can control water injection, it has a stutter box, traction control, it can supposedly auto-tune, ie: you set the fuel and timing for cells, then hook it up with the wideband and it will adjust the fuel and timing for whatever AFR you set it for. Not that hondata is bad, but the EMS really does have a TON of features.

The auto tuning with wideband does not adjust timing fyi

ok heres the deal i got a that can get me the aem ems for 1200 and then a shop around here that can install it, dyno and tune it for max power for 800 so thats 2g's for the aem ems and tuning what do you guys thinks. but the only thing is im not going to playing with it after they tune it. so would i be able to still use the options with it like the traction control.

800 for dyno time is kinda steep.

With all the maps they already have dyno time shouldnt cost that much IMO.

Hondata is by far the best for a street car. Stock idle, stock drivability and tuning it takes far less time with a good tuner than AEM. You save money over the AEM by both the product cost and tuning time.

Yea i can understand that, But i was thinkin more along the lines of tuners chargin by the hour...most about 125 an hour... So 800/$125 is round about 6.4 hours. Just seems long to me. Im not tryin to contradict you or question you, I was just sayin most charge by the hour intead of a set price.

Hopeeverything works out for ya man! keep us posted

At least you don't have to burn in chips all the time just to change the maps with the AEM. I also chose the AEM because of having an 96- car, I'd have to buy an OBDI ECU + jumper then the Hondata.....which almost equates to an AEM.

First off ive seen the Aem sell for less than $1200, Then $800 for install and tuning. What shop is this? Sound steep, are you a regular there, sounds like thier trying to pull a fast one. You said yourself you proabbaly wont touch the thing after its tuned and installed. So why spend three times as much $ to get an aem for options you proabbaly wont ever use?. Sounds liek you want to keep it simple so i say go hondata. It's affordable, and it works.

Hondata s200b- $495
Fullthrottle shift and Launch control- $125
Datalogging- $200
Romulator, Rom editor, and programmer- $560
Say 65$ for the Chip socketing
i dunno how much chips run...

but that total comes to about $1,445.00, those prices come straight from Hondata.com

AEM runs around $1200 and comes with those options plus more Just my opinion. Im stickin with EMS

Hands down AEM . Its worth every penny. Dont be fooled by how inexpensive some hondata systems are. You will end up paying more in the longrun through tuning expenses, upgrading the system so that you can tune yourself, etc. If you didnt notice, most people who push it also accept money for tuning it.....I work at a shop and would never offer the sale of this system. If I need a tuner then I know who to turn to, but I still wont recommend usage of the system.

Hondata uses fuel cut as their 2 step, rev limiter, and boost cut options. This is one quick way to flush your money down the toilet.

And if AEM see's that you are selling them that cheap then you wont be allowed to sell AEM directly from them again and you may even have legal problems when you try this. Its not worth it IMO.

i would think that AEM would use it on their drag car because its their product vs someone elses... why advertise for a different company other than your own?

hondata all the way
