Default AEM EMS Question

I was wondering what all the AEM EMS functions as? (EK Hatch SOHC Turbo)

1. Boost controller
2. Fuel Managment
3. ECU
4. Guages??
3. FMU???
4. Need to convert from OBD2 -> 1???

I am asking this because I want to piece together a turbo for my EK... and I want to go ahead w/ the AEM EMS... so do i still need to get an FMU... should I still convert to OBD 1...

What guages does it display? Should I still look for EGT, Boost, A/F etc...

It can display gauges for about anything you want it to. You will have to buy an EGT sensor from AEM if you want it to display EGT's though. It's about $200. Pretty much most other things you would want to monitor it can use the stock sensors to give you a reading.

No, it doesn't act like an FMU. You need large injectors with the EMS if you are turboed.

You can buy an EMS that will plug directly into your car. With the proper sensor, you can use it as a boost controller.

Well this is my thoughts:

If i dont buy an EMS... i would buy:

1. APEXi SAFC - 330
2. APEXi AVC-R - 500
3. Bunch of Guages - 200
4. OBD 2 -> 1 harness - 200
5. OBD 1 ECU - 100?

so thats already 1300 bucks that the EMS could do... plus it has more options right?

EMS would be a lot cheaper in the long run.... so just go for it...... mostly if you have OBD2......
