Action clutch ... broken
Yes I know, others have posted but I figured id share my experience too.
I noticed a wierd clunk from the tranny early lastweek...and well it was the clutch on its way out. Locked up the brakes and the shock of letting off the stopped wheels was the last straw.
what happend to mine? the splines went. Action 2md on my 2000 Si.
yummy, a pile of dirt in my tranny.
it was REALLY dirty in there. Combo of everything being eatin up.
Good thing it was only that i guess(not that it really matters) since the pads were REALLY low and all were starting to crumble.
The flywheel and pressure plate had both been worn in enough that there was a tiny lip up to the untouched material.
I can see how these things eat themselves after this mileage with this kind of wear.
But I cant complain. Mine had 37k miles on it (similar to fredo I think). It saw boosted duty for half that time (not that I was making loads of power) . It was daily driven for that entire time with plenty of romps down the strip, road course... and lots of dash eating hard shifts . So for a "race" item that is pretty good endurance IMO.
Ive also had a tooth break on my diff with this clutch...coincidence..I dunno.
Just thought Id share. All those with this clutch and nearing that mileage make sure you are on the look out.

its only a matter of time before these things fail....you heat cycle them enough and anything will break....37k outa of a decent clutch is what id expect to get....

Re: (JDM_EM1)
I've had mine for 2 years, and it's the best clutch i've felt. Insane engagement, and fun to hammer through the gear with. I don't know how it will handle 500+hp, but for my money-- action 2md ftw

i run mine w/ a action PP & act 4 puck unsprung.....my friends refer to my car is the gorilla pedal...compared to a clutchmasters its a workout....but i actaully like it....the engagement is pretty harsh...but heh this is a street beast so it comes w/ the territory...you just learn to shift better......but havent had any problems w/ it yet...dumpin it into 4th its never even slipped an inch....pushing 15-16psi approx 400whp.....
only reason i veared away from the org kevlar disk that came w/ the action is becase after about 6-7 hard runs at the track it was already slipping....not much...but was a lil and this was before i was boosted so....out it went....but that was a great n/a street clutch....and no problems yet after about 12000 on the PP and 3500 on the new 4 puck disc

did you read my post? Im not upset at all. I couldve worded the title better but I wanted it to get some attention
The tranny splines seem to be just fine. When i was boosted the car made anywhere from 220-250whp. like i said, not much. Ive had the clutch for about 2 yrs aswell and it faired quite well. I daily drove it and enjoyed the clutch very much. Like anything it took a little while to get used to but once you do its great. Wasnt overly difficult to deal with even in traffic. Pedal pressure is stiff but you get used to it. I loved how it would always grab. Going through the gears was much more fun as there was no slight delay(like in a stock clutch) it just grabbed and the revs would instantly go back up. awesome!
not sure what im replacing it with though.

Re: (undercoverdc2)
Well orginally I had plans for more power then that, but things went south. Ill be back in the game in a while.
Looks like im going with a bully stage 2 clutch. Its local and a very good deal. So for now itll do and I cant complain.
Ill miss my action though

Longer than 37,000+ miles over 2 years with several track days in between? Anymore than that is asking way to much.
