Never seen a log manifold that wont allow you to retain a/c

did you try to mount it 180 degrees side to side? like swap the compressor side to the opposite side? we had a customer manage to put a turbo on a drag manifold backwards, it looked hideous but it worked, just a thought.

Yes, you will need slimline fans at least in a CRX.

You can take it out, but I wouldnt run the AC without the fan. It will eventually mess up the compressor. I might be taking the AC fan out of my 99 civic for turbo purposes, but I'm going to pull the fuse for the AC so I never accidentally use it.

I took out the AC fan, and wired a slimfan (Pepboys special) on the other side of the frame. It was really easy -- just had to cut off the plug from the AC fan and splice to the 2 wires from the new fan. Don't know if it's the most efficient setup, but my AC is still plenty cold.
