ok well i know the kit is crap but here it is. my buddy has a civic with a ls in it. now all he wants to do is put 6-7 psi to it and i was wondering what everyone thought about it. i was telling him that we would have to reinforce the mani which is no big deal but i dont no how good the turbo is. would it hold the 6 psi or would the turbo eat it self. also do the parts like the bov and waste gate work good enough or r those crap also. soo if ne one has ne imput let me know b4 he goes and buys this thing haha thanks again
ssautochrome is suppose to be crap, but i haven't had problems with it other the than their turbo kit had fitment issues with the downpipe and the fins in the turbo was turned the wrong way. i took the turbo to get fixed and had no problems with the turbo or manifold boosting @ 16 psi on my ls motor.

ok yea im ganna have to show him this just because he thinks its such a good idea and what not. he just sees my peakboost kit and thinks its ganna be the same thing. so ill get him to spend alittle more and have a car that runs for more then a week thanks guys
I do know of at least one guy on another forum ( KA-T.org ) who has an XS Power turbo and made something like 320 at the wheels with it. He has not reported yet that it failed. So, some people have had luck with these turbos.
Personally I don't think its worth it. I have a turbonetics now with a warranty! Got to love that.

Am I the only one sick of seeing these SSAC threads? Someone should do a sticky for this. Whether it's the crappy turbos or manifolds, or the blatant "copies" of reputable BOVs and Wastegates, and turbo timers. I heard sema was going to congress to get some sort of bill passed against this sort of "counterfeiting" although I'm not sure what products they are focusing on.
Realize this people, when your knock-offs fail, and you decide to buy the real thing, don't complain about the rising cost of quality name brand parts such as TiAL, GReddy, Apexi, Garrett, etc. You have contributed to these price increases.
Sorry for the rant,

This subject is getting old. All you guys that are looking for the Cheapest parts should expect things to break and not last long. If its too good to be true, it usually is. If you really want something done right and last long, pay for the kits that are proven,. DRAG, Rev Hard, Full Race, Peakboost, etc.
IF you dont have the money to spend on kits like that, dont do a turbo setup at all. I've been doing this since 1993 and I can guarantee that everytime someone skimps out on good parts, and uses cheap parts, they usually have to redo it again. Ending up costing that person more money than if they did it right.

ok yea i was trying to see what people were thinking, i wasnt sure if it would be ok for him becasue he only wanted to 7 psi i didnt know if they were goin bad because of boosting the **** out of them or not. but from what i see im going to try to piece him together a kit
people say that the manifolds crack as well as the turbo splits in half because of the way they are constructed
and ive heard that the blow off valves, intercooler, piping and wastegate are decent but your better off making your own kit or finding a good price on greddy
also that kit comes with no oil line or any type of fuel management which will run you 200-300 and it doesnt come with any goodies like a boost controller/boost gauge/a/f ratio gauge so with the money you spend on all this you can easily buy a greddy kit w/ intercooler and turbo timer
i pieced together a full kit for about 900 and about 250 on engine management
(afc hack and dsm 450cc's)

this is so true....why r u turboing ya car if money is tight....or u wanna cheap it.
Build ya own kit, with the resources on H-T. I am doing it and I have saved like 500 bucks or more. I can put together a kit with parts on h-t for a d series for like 1500

ss auto chrome is some good shiet!!!
put it on ur enemys car not ur friends
in all reality from experience. I have had manifolds blow up and **** but those manifolds are junk...
cast iron breaks... tubular steel breaks but nothing like these
they have good wastegates never experienced a spike or anything like that...
but id steer clear and get something that wont within a week or soo immobilize ur car

i ended up getting the kit for my Y8 from a buddy for $600 and all i needed to get for fuel managment was RC 370 cc injectors and i traded my virgin p28 for a chipped one... ive had it for about a month and ive put about 1500 miles on it... and trust me- ive beat the **** out of it... ill be going to the track on saturday to see what i run @ ~10 psi(my gauge is off a little)... i took my turbo apart and everything looked pretty good and the manifold has yet to show any signs of wear at all, but im having my buddy build me a top mount out of an ex tubular header just to make sure
... i guess im one of the lucky ones

Yeah I have a XS Power t3/t4 pushing 17psi right now and I have had no problems in the 6 months I have been driving it... And come to think of it I believe I got my IC from them as well and things seem to be fine.
To my defense, when I bought these items I didnt realize that SSAC was ****... I probably wouldnt have bought anything from them to be on the safe side, especially with the amount of money I have tied up in this project.
