Default 99 Si with JRSC...

I was just trying to get some personal accounts of those with a JRSC on their Si's that can give me some tips or things to look for. I know the big thing with the kit is detonation, do any of you have tips to get rid of the detonation. I was planning of running the JR BTC and tuining with the SMC. Thoughts? Comments? Opinions?

Maybe a full standalone and tuning.

It took Hondata to get my JRSC working to its full potential. If you don't wanna go that route, you must have an upgraded fuel pump (Walbro GSS-342). On top of that, I would get the JR MAP controller.

It will run pretty good with those two items. It will run even better with a properly tuned standalone.

or, you could save money and NOT get the fuel pump or map mod, and just buy the SMC Plus. if tuned properly, you would have no detonation. also only $120 compared to hondata. of course it wont work as good as hondata, but for low amounts of boost the SMC is supposed to be great.

SMC+ and DSM450's is another great option.

I have a 99 Si with a JRSC. At 6 psi you shouldn't have a problem with detonation if you retard the timing per JR's instructions. Anything higher than this and a BTC (or even better a Hondata) and hi-pressure fuel pump (and/or larger injectors) are a must. Cooler s/plugs will also help especially in the hotter months. I have been running 9 psi for 6 months now with a BTC, Walbro pump and cooler plugs with no problems. I do not even get any hint of tip-in detonation.
