Read the Forced Induction FAQ at the top of the Forced Induction forum...it will answer some of your most basic questions. After reading through that, feel free to ask anything you like.

EDIT: I'm not sure that straight up buying a kit is your best bet.
What is your budget?
What are your goals?
What are your uses for the car?
Future plans?

Re: 97 Ek hatch d16 boosted?
so would i have to built the motor a bit to be able to boost it safely or can it all be stock?
my budget is 1500, my goals are to at least 200whp, i never had a boosted car, so therefore i think everyone should lol but i would be using it as a daily driver also!
future plans might be too sell it.

Turboing a stock D is perfectly fine as long as the power is kept "reasonable" and on a great tune.
I'd suggest saving up a little more as well. Along with the kit you'll need fuel and management (injectors, pump, and software), which will take a small chunk of $ as well.
