Default 85mm b18b

I was wondering if an 85mm bore on a b18b would be okay with golden eagle sleeves. This motor would probably see about 22lbs of boost max. I just sold my b20 setup and i am considering another build up. I was going to buy another b20 and resleeve it to 85mm but a friend of mine is selling his b18b with scratches on one of the cylinders, and it needs boring and honing. He wants about 200 for the b18b. If i can resleeve the b18b theres no point in me buying a b20b for $900 and spending another $900 to resleeve it. It would be more cost effective to buy the b18b. What do u guys think? Should I get the b18b? Another option I have been looking at was a turbo h22. For the price of the h22 swap alone, I could build a b18 or b20 with forged internals and sleeves and then turbo it. If I get an h22 and I turbo it, I would have to resleeve and it would cost more money and take a longer while for me to complete the build up. SO what do u guys think?

Get the b18b and resleeve to 85mm
Get the b20b and resleeve to 85mm
Get the h22a, run it stock for a while and then build it up in about 6 months and turbo it? I need opinions please

The only difference between the B18b and the B20b is that the B20b is bored to 84.5mm, so just get that B18b and sleeve it. Are you using an LS head or a Vtec head?

I'd surely opt for the B18B especially if you plan to send whichever block you buy out for sleeving.

SLPR who was in same situation (sleeve B18B I had laying around or buy a B20 shortblock).....I went B18B and 84.5mm sleeves Good luck on your project

**note**
the scratches and needed boring on the B18B sleeves you described is not an issue, they will be cut out and replaced by the GE sleeves. Bore and hone will get you to your desired 85mm diameter.

question: If u get a block sleeved to 84.5mm and say u mess up a piston and u want to hone the cylinder .20over and install a new piston. how many times can u continue to do that till u have to throw away the sleeves?

you can use 84.5 mm and screw a sleeve up no prb. but when you do you can probably take it up .5mm then another .5mm all the way up to around 85.5 mm for fi but anything more is cutting it close.

Aww man, all of that quality stuff...but then you threw in the Starion FMIC and DSM BOV....that's like getting all dressed up with your girl, and you take her out to dinner at Taco Bell or something.

As for the standalone, HONDATA or AEM. Both can run 8 injectors. But there was a thread a few days back that discussed the advantage/disadvantage of running 8 small/medium injectors vs 4 BIG injectors.

I know...I am going to upgrade the intercooler and bov as soon as i get the money... By the time the motor is built, I'll have a huge hole in my pocket... I need sometime to recuperate before I spend any more.... I will be running low boost until I get an upgraded intercooler and bov.....
