Default 820 wheel horsepower dyno pull

We got to make a couple of dyno passes on George Ahads hot rod car a couple of weeks ago. The passes were done on a new Dyno Jet with load capabilities. This dyno uses dual rollers and I was very surprised to see how well it held the horse power with minimal slippage. No CO2 was used on the wastgate and it just ran off the spring. The boost got up to about 25lbs as the wastegate could not relieve the pressure quick enough from the GT42r. We think that about 35-38 lbs will put us at the horsepower we would ultimately like to see.
The owner of the dyno was shocked as he was expecting about 500whp, haha.
Note both rear view mirrors still in place

Are you having boost stability issues, wheelspin or both? Those dynos are mighty choppy.

Looks like it needs some tuning down low...

Yeah, the boost was controlling us, nothing but the spring. We really just wanted to see if we were in the ball park with the tune. On other dynos, in the past, we were just ripping the tires loose so were kind of shocked to see the power come up so fast.

From the looks of the torque curve, it looks like the boost was holding prett steady just on spring. So that's a plus. From the looks of things it does alot of poppin and bangin before it hits fullboost.

Good call, it was popping from valve float. A new set of SuperTech springs and retainers are going in that should cure that problem.

Valve float through the midrange, but ok at high rpm and high boost?

Not sure Tony, but the current springs in the motor are tired. We only heard a couple of pops but sometimes it is the rate of acceleration rather than the rpms that can cause float. I guess we will know for sure after the spring install.
BTW, we are using the 8" diameter PWR barrell I/C and were getting manifold temps at 54F degrees.

It does have Comp Cams but will probably make the switch to Crane roller.

Main place i saw the problem with that ic was getting heatsoaked at the track. Things happen so fast during a dyno pull that it doesn't heat soak the same.

Was the car using a honda air temp sensor?

with my 6x8 PWR barrel i was seeing consistent 75 degree intake temps at 9500 rpm, really good stuff, that one you have obviously does the job a little better haha.

it took us ~35-38psi to make 820 to the tires..... non intercooled/83mm bottom end/stock gsr cams/

our car hits hard, damn near full boost @ 6k, and stays there.

i do like the color choice though
