ok i found a good website that explains it. And from what i read i understood that the 57 trim would spool alittle faster than the 60..but the 60 trim would have more power at higher rpms. Am I correct?

here's a link to precision's site. it has the list of the physical differences between all of their turbos, the sc34 is the 57 trim and they have two 60 trims, the sc44 and sc60. but yeah the compressor inducers and exducers get lareger with the larger trims.

The trim really is just a measure of the inducer size compared to the exducer size. you can see on the precision site that there are two types of 60 trim turbos. one (sc60) has a larger compressor wheel but the ratio of inducer to exducer still makes it a 60 trim.

i've heard from numerous places that a 57 trim .63 a/r will be more efficient in making power than a 60 trim .63 a/r. (Ken at cheapturbo.com being one of them) The 60 trim will be good for more power, but not much ... maybe 50-75hp or so.

I can't back it up with any written proof, as i haven't dyno'd my car with a 60 trim of the same size ... but on a 84 mm b16, my car makes 410whp @ 16psi on pump gas using the 57 trim .63ar. I'm guessing that using a 60 trim, with the exact setup, power output wouldn't be very different ... and the 57 trim would come on a bit sooner.

you know i was looking on their site and they list the 57 trim and 60 trim as flowing the same cfm but they list the 57 trim as 500whp and the 60 trim as 475whp.

ive heard the same thing with the sc50 and sc32, that the 50 trim is more effecient than the 54 trim. but like you mentioned its all kinda hearsay as ive never really seen any hard poof.
