Default .50 bored over block with block guard

okay i just bought a race eng. block guard because people all other this site have used it and gave good reviews. but my real ? is on my ls block i'm boring it over .50 so doesn't that mean they're gonna have to shave off a little bit of the block guard to make it fit then. or should i just forget about using the block guard totally ?

50 over is stupid IMO. You will have very little steel in the cyl wall and it will be weaker than stock.

ok whatever floats your boat.

Personally I did a standard bore block with forged internals for a reason - strength. As far as making power, thats what the turbo is for. I mean come on, its a 1.6l, displacement is not how you make power with these things.

to anwser your question about the block guard; the fitment of it will not be affected by the bore size at all. If I had to install one I would have it hand fit, welded in, then bored and honed.

ah yes, maybe I am. I ASSumed he meant .050" not .5mm since there were no units mentioned and the decimal may have been in the wrong place. A 1.27mm overbore is too much but .5mm sounds good to me.

...and hes probably going to 75.5mm with a .020"/.508mm overbore since he rockstheSOHC

You bore out the cylinder, it has nothing to do with the outside of the sleeves in the coolant passages where the block gurad goes... So no, why would you have to modify the blockguard??
