20psi and these Wisecos
When I got my Wiseco pistons, I was excited until I pulled them from the box. I hope to make some decent numbers with my motor soon, and I'm afraid that the stamped-on numbers could eventually lead to detonation. The pistons I've seen in other people's threads don't have any letters on the piston's top, is this normal with Wiseco's?
(Click it to make it bigger)
There are also a lot more sharp edges than I'd have liked, should I round them all off? Its going to be for a 300-400whp D16, daily driven on 93 octane and CromePro. All the parts will be balanced soon, so removing material doesn't scare me.

Hi- you **** bitch! As soon as you start your motor those numbers will be covered by carbon build up , but if you must just put some rubbing compound on a cloth and rub them a little bit that will remove any microscopic sharp points, crackhead!

Aim high! Seriously, who would be proud of saying "225whp built & boosted D16"? I always like "more with less", otherwise I'd have an LS1 'bird with a blower. I plan on running meth injection eventually if I go over 300, but I'd have to change turbos first. I also have access to E85.
Thats also why I'm '****' with this build, I plan to live near the edge of this motor's typical potential. The difference is that all oil passages are being enlarged, my oil pump's devcon is hardening as I type, and if my damn flywheel/clutch ever get here, it will be completely balanced. If I build the head, 9k may be feasable - safely.
The other reason I'm wary is all the CP pistons that melt the intake reliefs. Any leaking oil burning on any sharp edge will melt the piston in a high-strung D16 like its wax.

no that **** is from lean burns! and why are you enlarging your oil lines

I've never seen a problem with Wiseco's.. CP's have the problem because the metal between the intake valve relief and the edge of te pisto is SOOOOOOO thin.. Wiseco's have some meat in there.

Maybe I should put it another way - I'm 'massaging' all the major oil passages inside the block. No restrictions, no 90* mitter turns - smoothed the way it should be. Its usually expected a completely OEM setup will turn 8k w/o oil issues, over that your running a big risk due to the pump design. Smoothing the flow will help keep the pump from falling on its face, per se.

so your saying the guys running 10 000 rpm all motor setups. are "massaging" their oil passaging. and devconning their oil pumps?
put the pipe down

its a d-series thing (im assuming y8) so most wouldnt understand...im also assuming that you are doing all the endyn mods to the pump and what not? i did them all on my y8 block and got favorable results. 400whp on pump is prolly not going to happen...why risk it???? 300whp is PLENTY on the street...more than a fwd was ever supposed to handle...you want more? put some race gas in it lol...i ran my car for 4 months straight on 110 leaded (we have it at the pump here in potato land)

As fast2camciv said, its a d16 thing, but more specificly a d16y8 thing.
Muckman, If you knew how much bad luck I've been having for the last 24 months, you'd be just as suspicious as me.
AFAIK, susgestions that are followed up by pictures and set-priced services to do said moddifications on the Endyn website aren't just guesses and maybe ifs. They come from years of trial/error. If they can make a 430whp supercharged daily parts driver using a D16 - and have it last 5+ years - then I tend to trust what they say.
