200 whp enough?
how many of you are happy with 170-200 whp? i ask because i want to go turbo with a d16y8 because its cheap. also, traction will become an issue with more power, correct? i assume 200 whp on a y8 is relatively easy. i would prolly run a stock block while building another y8 block for turbo. how much boost can a built D block take? did you find that ~180 whp was fast enough for you?
Nope. I am making 200 on 4psi, and while it's fast and fun to drive... it isn't enough. Once my wastegate is going I should be making considerably more...

yup, u get use to it and u think its slow. but when u race, thats another story. just get a turbo like a t3...spools fast and less turbo lag then the t3/t4. 4lbs will not make 200hp unless u got some crazy tuning. eitherway its fun to build ur own motor, sucks when u cheat and just buy a new1 with all the fix'ins

Going from a N/A Z6 to a turbo Z6 with 216whp/181tq was pretty crazy. Torque steer everywhere and no traction. I have been boosted 2 weeks and I already want to get rods/pistons so I can up the boost. I don't think it's as fast as when I first got it, but everybody else ***** their pants when they ride in my car for the first time. It sure is fun to drive.

Oh yeah? Since when?
Oh yeah? Since when?
i have 5 settings from 200-260.. and i end up at 260 pretty much the whole time, 200 feels like the car is stock.. 260 is starting to feel that way too, but i'm keeping my sanity at least for right now.

And what kind of control do you have?
And what kind of control do you have?
I dont think you can ever have enough HP, my y8 wasnt good enough so I swapped in a c5, then that wasnt fast enough so I tubo'd it, then I still wanted more so here I am with a built c5 and about to put in my AEM EMS

Since the dawn of time....
I made 205whp on 6psi with my t3, it was good for like 2 days and i was like well this is old and i turned the boost to 10, have yet to dyno figure roughly around 250 give or take...and now that is old so im ready to buy some 650's and a few other things and go for 300 which then i doubt will be enough....
Its an addiction, it could come down to possible TPA (turbo power anonymous)

Well to be quite honest it depends on the person.
I think 200whp and 165tq on a d16 would be reasonabley enough to get into the high 13.9's range.
I think it's only human nature to want more of somthing (power, love, sex, money, respect, girl, ect)
Knowing what your limitations are (mainly money) will yeild how long you last in the game. Start out slow is what I would avise you. Try upping the HP later when you get board. I think you have the right idea though about boosting on a stock block and building the extra one for when your really ready for the big HP power.
Remember we all want MORE but are we advanced enought to handle the repsonsiblity ie: knowing how to properly maintance it, knowing your regular tuning info and general diganostics of trouble shooting not to mention are we financially able to dump instant money into it when somthing unexpected goes wrong.
just my opinion though. But looks like your on the right pace
