Default 2 BOV??

This question comes from my other thread. I have seen a pic or two of Supras running 2 BOV, HKS SSQV to be exact. But do hondas really need this? I know that it shouldnt hurt if i had two, besides having two hundred dollars sucked out of my wallet but what does everyone think? Desired hp is roughly 600+/30lbs with a T4 pt61, profect B II, resleeve 2.0 lsvtec, etc. Thanks.

I'd say you might want to think about getting two with that setup. Or a 50mm Tial. But I am in the same boat...I'm probably just going to run two and call it a day.

I was thinking of running a 50mmTial but i was recommended hks, but now i hear that i may need two. I figured better safe then sorry, but didnt know if it would greatly affect the setup. Thanks.

I feel you may be safe with a Tial since it has the larger diameter compared to a Greddy S for example maybe try 2 one at the turbo and one at the throttle body

My $0.02

True the 50mm Tial should be up for the task you want....but to 90% of the car world, if they see 2 HKS SSQV's, they will be like "oooh my god dude that's so bad-***." Plus you'll know who the turbo noobs are and who aren't after they see the BOV's

Two bovs cant be reliable because the one closest to the throttlebody will have more stress put on its diagphram, while the other will vent only whats left over.

put them the same distance from the throttle body, but mount them on opposite sides of the pipe. Problem solved.

for your set-up, you could run 1 tial 50mm but if you already have one HKS, then you could get another one

or if you really want you could run 2 tials...not at all necessary, but you could do it

if you run 2, then put one near the turbo and one near the throttle body...or you could put them both near the throttle body...seen it done both ways

its really just up to you.

I was thinking two HKS since i already have one, but i would have them on the same part of the tube, so they release equal amount of pressure. That is of course if i need two. I should have gotten one tial, but i think its too late, but i could always sell the one hks. But everyone agrees that i may need two? I should be pushing anywhere from 25-35psi, not sure till i get tuned. Thanks.

It wont be a street car, maybe only once a week. But not racing on the street. What will happen if there is a surge? After a while? Damage?

i dont have a 600whp car but i think logic says that one should be enough, if you do get a little surge, it probably wont bust anything, i think it will more just slow the turbo more between shifts and lose a bit of spool.
but if its a racecar your going to shift fast anyway right?

so if its a race car and you shift fast, all it has time to do is release a short burst of air wether its one or two so just shift and if you get surge than just shift faster.

Logic tells you it shouldn't hurt anything, knowledge tells me surge does hurt things. Especially on a car with a stick you will eat up your seals and bearings with no BOV or an inadequate flowing BOV. 600 WHP is borderline for supras to need two HKS SSQV's, I would think about two on your car. We have a single Tial 50mm bov on a friends 870 RWHP setup with absolutely zero surge. It'll be cheaper to sell the one HKS bov and get a tial rather than just buying a second HKS, but it's your choice.

I would definitely get two if you plan on pushing 35psi haha. That's ALOT of boost no matter how you cut it. Plus it's much better to be safe than sorry.

I run 2 stock dsm bovs on my dsm no compressor surge whats so ever and they work perfectlly. I run 30psi on them they dont leak and i have them crushed 4mm. But my friend runs tial 50mm and that also works like a charm too so do what ever you want. I installed two stock bovs because of a cost, it costed me 40 bux for both bov's and they get the job done.
