Default 1994 Del Sol SI options

I am going to put a small, fast spooling turbo in my del sol. I have appx a $20,000 budget.

Do I...

A-Build the D16z6 then boost it
B-Swap in the B16a3, build that, then boost it.

Opinions please.

$20k, evo 8 and keep that reliable sol as a daily. Just a lot of money to put into that car cuz if for some reason u had to sell it u would get punched in the nuts.

P.s. If Honda put out a factory turbo car I'd be recommending that guys, it just might happen with the new type r. Fingers crossed for usdm version.

I love my Hondas, but I dont think i'd blow $20k on a Del Sol unless I was ok with losing all of it. I'd go back to an STi and save some money for injectors, a Dom 1.5XTR, and a retune. That's an easy 400awhp within your budget AND it has resale value

But sticking to your original question - I would choose neither. For that budget, a D series shouldnt even be a consideration and the B16 is the worst B series choice for an all-out turbo build IMO. Find a B18a/b, sleeve it, find VTEC head, and add boost.

Who has 20gs to spend and asks or even contemplates if they should build a d16? Do some research before u get mad at us for saying that spending 20gs on a del sol is a waste of money.

Lmao! OP is this a serious thread? To funny, or maybe I'm to blazed. My vote is to keep everything you do in the honda game simple, especially if its your first so called "setup". I'm currently rocking a stock d16z6 with a small turbo and it's beyond fun to drive and budget friendly. I can only speak for myself I'm sure others will steer you different. I vote :

Rebuilt/Healthy d16, b16 etc.

Legit turbo kit. Go-autoworks, etc.....

Done!

Simplicity is best, no use in blowing $$. My .02

OP: If your goal is a small, fast spooling turbo (no power goal listed), that'll cost $4-5k tops. There's no need spend more than that for a basic setup.

Now if your goals are 400+, then you'll be looking to spend a little more on a built engine, but no more than $1500-2k.

It all comes down to your goals and until you more clearly define them, its hard to give you a straight answer.

I have less than $2500 (including buying an integra to yank the b18 out of) into my sol and its my winter beater.
Bone stock b18b1
Ebay turbo kit
Ebay 60 trim (approx 25k miles on this turbo)
Hondata s300
750cc Smartfire injectors
255 walbro
ebay "stage 3" 6puck sprung clutch
13psi on 91. 15k hard miles so far. zero issues. I do the tuning. I'll be bumping the boost up some come spring time

Look up the channel for "boostforbreakfast" on youtube. It has a couple vids of some pulls in it
