15+ psi on the hack!!!!! Look here...
Just thought I would pass on what I think is some good useable info to those running the vafc/safc hack...Well first off you always here about how u can only boost 10-11 psi on this set-up before all these bad things start to happen...I am willing to bet 99% of the people making comments about this have heard it from someone else...Anyway, I thought that my car was maxed out at 13 psi when I tried to boost a little more and I threw a map code so I decided to try a aem adj. fuel press. regulatorI set it for 3 psi over my original base pressure at idle and re-adjusted the afc to -40 across the board....I then tried 14 psi w/ no prob, then 15 psi w/ no problems...My a/f ratio was still rich...I could not believe that only 3 psi above the base pressure would make such a difference...Now my a/f ratio is still rich at 11.5, but I will fool with it some more to lean it out a little...So for the people using this fuel set-up and want to boost higher, give it a try....The reason why so many people throw codes is because they are taking out to much fuel w the afc....So lean out the afc, and add a little fuel pressure..It worked for me and it will work for anyone else as well....But please make sure you tune it on a dyno, unless you have a wideband....I did all this tonight on the street using race gas,fjo wide band and timing retarded 3deg at base...Hope this will help those who think they are stuck at 10-11 psi......Oh yeah, one more thing...This is still the 161,000 mile engine that I have been using all year
sorry, I meant the reason people throw map codes is because they are adding to much fuel..(not taking out too much fuel)
im doing the same as u dude. i got my fuel pressure up to 50 psi at idle. running 12-13 psi with the 15 psi spike. the map doesnt seem to read more than 11 psi though. where does urs stop at?

Nice bro. wats your setup and how much hp/ tq u running. stock interns?

Engine is a b18b,(yet another bone stock ls motor getting pushed harder and harder
)..ls trans, greddy 18g turbo, open diff, stock axles,cm stage 3.....The car ran 12.06 on 13 psi...I am going back on 14-15 psi Friday to try and crack some 11s...(or crack something at least
)...
Also, the cars a/f looks great all the way to redline...Right now in the mid 11s (a/f ratio) Tomorrow i will tune it for 12.0-12.3 a/f....

thats not bad times for LS. Wat you rev it up to bc I cant seem to get traction if I rev it pass 4K. Also how big is your turbo and you got any dyno and hp/tq???

I really dont know the exact specs on the 18g turbo to be very honest w. you....Also the car was launced at 6500 rpm, but this was also on a 24/9.2/15 full slick...

Yeah, they heard it from me and parrot what I've said incorrectly.
You sound like you have half a clue, but I don't think you're taking out enough ignition for your boost level. You do realize you can sell your AFC and purchase a chip burner, GM 2 bar/Dodge or Toy 2.5 bar/GM 3 bar MAP sensor and pocket a few dollars.... AND have a standalone setup instead of a kludgy fuel controller hack?
My only real criticism is that you're getting the children all riled up about things they don't understand, and they'll try to copy you without any clue whatsoever. *shrug*

you did read the part where he said he was running RACE GAS right?

3 deg retard only @ 15psi ??
I hope you got new internals at the ready.
10-11psi map limit is not a concrete theory. People get this figured fixed in their head and not knowing how map voltages/limit actually works. There are many ways to get round it and still using the stock map sensor. All depends on your setup.

He's got 3degrees of base timing pulled...WOT 15psi he's pushing 29-ish degrees on that stock ecu. Remember that he can get away with the full timing as it's running on C16. Trust me, Frank has this thing tuned and tweaked out about as good as it can get for the setup and it only runs this at the track or the Rt 9 tuning sessions.
It's really kind of sobering to run next to him at the track and "only" run a 12.6@110.8 to his 12.06...especially when you're running a built motor/standalone to his stock motor/greddy turbo/hack setup!
Looking forward to seeing some 11's Frank...

Order new internals????????I take offense to that!!!I am a expierenced tuner where tons of traffic, people, and wildlife are constantly in my way during my tuning sessions!!!J/K
...But anyway, I think that i am safe w/-3 deg since I am using race gas, and remember I mentioned that doing this kind of tuning should only be on a dyno or w/ a wideband....But I didnt mean to get all the kidies all stirred up like some orange kool aid!!!...please do not try this unless you have the proper eguip. to tune......(that includes a highway where there are animals jumping out in front of you while your trying to watch your wideband??
)...
Oh I almost forgot my buddy Mr. Clendaniel...Thanks for the props kid, now why dont you throw away that pos aem computer and go with a real engine management like the hack.......
