Default 13 head gaskets in 3 years Please help!

I've been working on my eg for a few years now. And I never get the to enjoy driving it because i keep blowing head gaskets. In the car I have a B18c1 bored to 84mm with dart sleves. The deck has been been shaved dew to a overheating problem 3 years ago. The head is straight I had it checked. I've been using Cometic gaskets sence I built the motor. In the 3 years I had the motor in the car I've done about 13 head gaskets. I'm tired of doing them. I've also used arp head studs torgued to 75ftlbs with arp lube. I replace them every 2 gaskets. So I desided to line a cometic gasket up to my head and noticed that the coolent ports on the gasket (on some) where smaller then the ones on the head. Also I forgot to mension I have a gt35r turbo that is cooled be antifreeze. I have the coolent host comeing out of the back of my intake manifold to the turbo then to the head. When ever I do a head gasket I do a 1000 mile break in. no shifts over 4000. during the break in I have no problems, the car run like a dream. but after when I hit boost and bring the rpms up the temp climbs just as fast. The head gasket dosent blow till the motor gets hot. So Its not the boost. Any suggestions would be great.

who sleeved the block? ive seen time and time again where headgasket issues are caused by uneven sleeves. decking the block will not fix the problem.

I feel u bro, i had the same issues. My guess is a sunk sleeve. Take the car to someone who knows what they are doing and have them check it...

Sunken sleeve will def. cause this. I've used cometic gaskets plenty of times, so its not the gasket, either its a sunken sleeve, warped deck (but you said they were within spec.) so my bet would be sleeves

lol i probably would've asked this question after the third gasket. sounds like you have a sunken sleeve. get the block checked by a machine shop, preferably the one that didn't sleeve your block.

who sleeved the motor?

out of 13 cometic gaskets i would figure maybe 1 or 2 might work, so its most likely a sunken sleeve like everyone is suggesting.

I think we are overlooking one thing.. Who tuned the motor? Is it possible that you have severe detonation under boost that is causing the weak link to give?

Ditch the cometic, I've had nothing but bad experiences with them. I run a $30 Felpro MLS now, works like a charm.

There is a famous saying, "it's all in the tune"

Next time the head is off check the height of each sleeve.

Look in the exhaust ports for small dingle ***** they are a sign of detonation.

When you break torque on the studs, do any of the nuts seem lose?

if t was a sunken sleeve then wouldnt it overheat all of the time? with the last headgasket the car drove 1000mi during the breakin and didnt overheat.

One may think this...but I'm definitely going to side with trying a GE gasket. I had the same problem and everything was within spec if not perfect. Changed my 2nd Cometic gasket to a GE gasket, and gee go figure the problem vanished.

ballin'!

make a shirt out of old head gaskets. when someone asks you what the hell you're wearing, be like "what do you care? you can't afford this! cometic, playa! 100% MLS gasket! $1300"

they'll be all up ons.

EDIT: sex panther cologne not needed.
