Default ***DC Intercooler options...

Has anyone been able to Turbo / install an intercooler on a DC without hacking the front grill to pieces?............Got pics?

you don't have to cut the bumper much (if at all) if you get some dinky *** intercooler...but if you get something worth while then you will. When I say cut, all I did was trim away some of the webbing on the back side that is out of sight anyways. The front/exterior looks the exact same as it always has.

no you could go higher, but I didn't want to cut the front bumper support at all. I've scrapped it like 3 times, but its really not bad at all if you just pay attention and don't hit speed bumps at like 100mph and go in driveway at an angle like you should be anyways with a lowered car.

It's the Precision 600hp intercooler

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by bigdaddyvtec &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">i would SERIOUSLY think about doing something to get it up higher, or you will be sorry. I would put it up higher, but I care more about my front end/motor if I get in an accident than I do about a $350 intercooler. That's why it hangs low because I will absolutely not remove or cut my bumper support.

the first pic is misleading, that is a 600hp intercooler, i have a 350 hp intercooler and you can mount it to your bumper support by only drilling holes and i actually was able to mount the intercooler far enough back to where i did not have to trim anything at all. but i did end up trimming about a 1\4 inch off at the lower corners only because the bumper cover touched the intercooler. but after a while of driving in texas summer heat i cut out a lot more to let more air in. but as for fitment i did not need to cut it.

i have a revhard intercooler 27X6.5X3"

we fit a JRC 6" intercooler on my friends integra without having to hack up the grille. you may have to trim down the inner portion of the bumper since parts of it sticks inward from the grille. imo the JRC 6" intercooler fits behind the bumper quite nicely. like it was meant to be there.

I agree....x10, i was trying to be nice and cool and not slam that guy but he still came off with that "<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Dunc &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">its really not bad at all if you just pay attention and don't hit speed bumps at like 100mph and go in driveway at an angle like you should be anyways with a lowered car.</TD></TR></TABLE>

All I really need to do is buy a front lip and it will look like every other intercooler that you see.

I have the JRC 6" as well. I jus had to trim teh back of the grill a little bit....but no hacking, and it fits very nicely back there.

As to the guy about the bumper support.....what are the chances of you actually hitting a car that sits as low as yours....you will most likely go underneath the other car a bit. Plus the bumper support isn't really the strongest piece of metal.

Not good to imply that someone doesn't know how to drive a "lowered car".....especially someone who has more experience behind the wheel. That's what i mean

eesh i hate the classic 5inch. the construction and welding is definatley nice however the 2 inch core just plain sucks. i'd run many other intercoolers before i run the classic version. at LEAST the newest 2.75 core from JRC.

as for fitting FMIC"s without cutting the grill you can go up to 3" thick just gotta shave behind the grill. lots of trial and error.

i just picked up that intercooler from ebay
its almost looks just like the presion 600hp ic. 3.5 thick 28 long and 8 tall. hes in the la area and i picked it up for $180. i think this is a way better deal than the jrc ic and its bar and plate
any ic taller than 6" the bummper shpport should be cut

Well if I had a lip you wouldn't see it, and then you wouldn't be saying it looks like **** correct? Plus a $350 intercooler is much more expendable than the whole front end/motor of my car. If the intercooler gets fucked up somehow, I'll just replace it. It's not like its a really expensive piece.

haha dude you definitely misunderstood me then. I wasn't implying that you do that or don't know how to drive. I was saying it rhetorically. Sorry to try and help...but I just this is the classic H-T way....you help but get flamed instead haha. Oh well, hope you find something that works...good luck
