Default What all is involved with basic chipping?

I am going to turbo my b16. I have been reading all about chipping and I still can't figure it all out. Here are my questions:
If I send my ecu in to phearable and they chip it for $75. and give it a base map, then all I do is put the ecu back in my car and drive to a tuner and he will burn a new base map after tuning? Or do I need to buy other things like hondata? I wouldnt need to buy a aftermarket map if I stay under 11psi correct?
What I am really trying to ask is, is it that simple, just chip your ecu for $75. and get it tuned? It just seems like there is so much more than that.

Please help me on this one

It really is that simple. All you have to do is supply your tuner with a properly chipped ecu for your setup. He will then tune the car and burn the tuned map on the chip for you. And you are done.

Contact your local tuner to see what he is comfortable tuning and then purchase whatever software you need to depending on his recommendation.

What do you mean software? I thought the tuner would have all of that

The tuner will usually have a certain program that he prefers to tune with.

If it is something like NepTune, eCtune, Crome pro, etc you will have to pay a softeware license that he can provide.

BUT

If you go with something like the NepTune RTP package or Hondata S300, then you will need to buy the hardware (Demon for the RTP and the S300 board for hondata) and the software license from a dealer. Most of the time your tuner can get ahold of all of this for you.

So my suggestion to you is to call your tuner and find out what you need and then go from there.
