Default VTEC Pressure switch on s300

Okay so this past week I took my car to be dyno tuned. We found out that my VTEC was not engaging at all and that I had to look into it. So when i got home I went through my parameters and noticed that my VTEC oil pressure switch was not checked off. Did my tuner maybe forget to check it off and thats why it was not engaging? I looked at the help link on s300 and it said that if the computer is jdm or motor is jdm to disable it but nothing on my car is JDM. Its a B18A1 Block with a B16 Head. The ecu is P06 (37820-P06-A02). Or is the ecu JDM?

There are too many variables to take into account. Low VTEC fluid, low oil pressure, LS-VTEC not done right, wiring is wrong, calibration file is set up wrong, etc... If your tuner sucks that could be an issue too. Stop being lazy and check some stuff out like he told you to do.

Nobody here is lazy..I just got the tune done a couple days ago, I have other things going on, can't always just work on the car. Why wouldn't I start diagnosing with something as simple as the click of a button then uploading to the s300?

That is a non-vtec ECU, has it been prepared for VTEC?

A 37820-P06-A02 ecu is a non-vtec ecu.
You will either need the proper vtec hardware added to the ecu for vtec to function correctly or you will need to use an alternate vtec output in the Smanager using a relay & disable vtec pressure switch etc.

Thank you for letting me know. The previous owner had a VTEC motor. Not sure if it was setup. Is there a way for me to check or something to look for on the board to know its setup properly for VTEC?

We posted at same time... your board is prepped for VTEC. Check to make sure none of the solder joints look bad or burnt.

I did they all look good. So the VTEC pressure switch being disabled in the parameters on my s300 calibration has nothing to do with my vtec not engaging?

Some JDM engines didn't come with a VTEC Pressure Switch so the way you get around that without throwing a code is to manually do it with wires or select the box to disable the VTP switch. Obviously doing it in SManager is MUCH easier. So as long as you have it set for the ECU to disable the switch then it will not stop VTEC from activating.

You can take a datalog to verify that the VTS is coming on in the sensor window as well just to verify that side of things. Another way would be to use a DMM or test bulb on the VTEC pin.

Not saying it's the problem but at postion C60 there should be a 1uf tantalum capacitor and the pic shows an electrolytic.

Well i did a datalog and the VTP is on but the VTS sensor does not come on. Also have a check engine light that comes on on after driving the car. Have to check code tomorrow

Is that supposed to be off at all times or does it only come on when im around 5k rpm when vtec is supposed to engage?

Just to be sure: In the SManager you can see CEL codes by clicking on the tab. A window will pop up and say what the code is in the box. IIRC the tab will even have a red exclamation point by it when a code is thrown.

Yeah I saw the little red exclamation mark. When I clicked on the tab though, nothing came up. I am pretty sure now it is 11. Tried a few times. I've found that 11 is Bad ECM but also found that it could be engine overheating?

Code 11 is a "Hondata only" code for overheating. The default setting is 212' F and this will limit certain functions of the car once reached. Do you have a functioning speedometer (VSS) ???

if you're actually overheating, Vtec will not engage. Don't trust the gauge in your cluster, it's never right on Hondas. Post a calibration and a datalog.
