Default tuning lstvec

ok so my friend has an lsvtec and its running a p28 and i told him to chip it and tune it on crome just so its safe and u can get a rev limiter where u stop making power and set ur vtec where its supposed to. The tuner said theres no point in tuning it cause its just a stock lsvtec? is he right or wrong? and if he does tune it will it really be all that much safer?

o forgot what he has done is:
blox intake manifold
no name fuel pressure regulator
intake
exhaust
gsr head

It would be ideal to chip the ecu considering he is running a stock p28 fuel & ignition map.

A revlimit of 8400 rpms would be ideal with vtec at around 5000 rpms.

Not only do you need a new tune, you need a different tuner. A "stock lsvtec" is a contradiction in terms, and having a D16 ECU pretty much guarantees your tune won't be optimal.

why would u want such a high rev limiter? lsvtec doesnt magically rev higher than a gsr in any means or is safer.

but yes chip the ecu (hondata, chrome) etc and tune it to the car

Stock revlimit of a gsr is 8200 rpms. An ls/vtec with a revlimit of 8400 rpms is probably the highest you should have considering the motor will make peak power at approximately 8100-8400 rpms depending on a few things (exhaust, header,im)

Get a new tuner. There is no such thing as a stock LS/VTEC.
