Default A thread posted when everything is good.

Most times when I make a thread, I'm asking all of you guys for help with a technical problem that I am having with my car. This time everything is working fine, so I wanted to make a post complimenting the engine management software instead of swearing at it.

I own a 3Door '93 Honda Civic DX .
Completely Stock B18A1.
450 Blue top DSM injectors
Innovate MTX-L Wideband
Moates Demon RTP running Neptune.

**Small things that I took for granted**
Working A/C
Quiet exhaust

I finally got the on board datalogging feature working and it is amazing. No need to have a laptop around with a charged battery. All I got to do is turn on the A/C and place the throttle pass 50%. (Probably not the best inputs but I'll mess with it later.)

Also I was getting screwy vehicle speed signals coming from my VSS. My speedo in the gauge cluster would work fine but the vss signal that was recorded by the ECU was wacky. This problem ended up fixing itself. I did some poking around with a multimeter but could not find any gaps in continuity.

Last but certainly not least, I was able to feed the analog 0-5 volt wideband signal into the ecu and get an accurate AFR reading. Before I was using the stock O2 location which I read somewhere that the Analog to Digital Converter for that signal could only work from 0-3V. Therefore I used the D10 Electronic Load Detector (ELD) pin which seems to be taking the 0-5V signal just fine.

Right now things are working ok and I just wanted to give credit when credit is due. The Neptune tuning software has been very easy to work with. Every once in a while it locks up and I have to give it the three finger solute (Ctrl +Alt +Delete) but other than that, it has been working great.

For anyone that is getting into this engine tuning thing for the first time. I would suggest being patient. Also don't be scared to ask questions. You don't want to be annoying but at the same time don't be too prideful. The worst thing that can happen is that the person blows you off and doesn't respond to your question.

Take care.

I appreciate the compliment.

Have to Control-Alt-Delete eh? The whole machine or just the app? Try unplugging USB if it's just the app. Also make sure to use the ferrite bead that came with the USB cable.

For d10 did you remove the 2 resistors on the ecu? Otherwise it has a voltage max that it hits. Removing them allows the full 0-5v range (I believe this is universal on all tuning systems, but its described mostly for hondata)

No I didn't try removing any resistors.

Just on the app. I think I'm using the ferrite bead because there is a small cylinder that's coaxial with the cable.

Try unplugging the USB next time and let me know if the app comes back.

You can also use egr lift input for the wideband with no issues. Leaves you the option to still use the ELD later on if you want to.

Nice post, kudos.
Next on your list should be a TunerView
Your VSS issue may be an intermittent short underneath the intake manifold, the harness tends to rub there or on the exhaust heat shield if you still have a stock O2 in place. Otherwise you might want to beef up your grounds just in case. Particularly the one on the thermostat.
Personally I like having the ELD active, it's an easy way to detect wiring and alternator problems.
You may want to delete your USB drivers and install them again, I had that same issue.
The manual in my signature is for Crome, but a lot of the concepts can still be used in Neptune.
Happy tuning!
