So after fighting with it to cure the "unable to connect" issue in Crome, I get it uploaded and pluged into my P28. Solid CEL no matter what I do.
I took out the chip (which has the exact same BIN on it) and put it in red stripe closest to the DL header. Ostrich was set to 28/28 on the switches. I've actually read off the Ostrich and used CRC to verify its the same as the BIN I started with. It has to be somewhere between it's memory and the ecu's header.
I can't think of anything, so is there something I'm missing??

I've done it once, and more than once. I've taken working BIN's that work perfect on chips, but fail on the Ostrich. Also as mentioned, I've taken the BIN off the Ostrich, burned to chip, and it works.
I'm probably going to call them & try a replacement. This thing has seriously wasted more of my time than all of the chip-burning I've done in my entire life.

Its set to whatever it gives me on auto detect. IIRC its 920k/8/off/1; tried latency 1 & 16.
I really don't think its the up/downloading portion of the Ostrich, as I can D/L the BIN in working form. It just doesn't seem to supply the socket with what it needs.

Crome Free v1.5. I have a license to Pro, but I can't get a reg string til John crawls out of his hole. Now that I recall, it worked fine with the EmUtility, but whenever I use that, I have to reset the Ostrich w/Tuner RT Pro.

I paid for it in 2006, so I'm not sure that will exactly work.
I'm almost thinking its Crome that won't upload correctly. Some people say they've had Free work in the past, some say it isn't supposed to. I guess I'll just use EmUtility for faster uploads. I can make a macro that will do all the saving/uploading with one keystroke.

I am also having this issue. ostrich 2.0 works and I hav sent maps and read maps from the ecu. I just have a solid cel as soon as i flip the key. I removed the checksum from the file.
Q.. should i remove it before I connect it to the ostrich?
help?

I did that and I am using the JDM P30 as per moates.net instructions. Had remote help and still had a solid CEL.
Now, they told me to ship it back to them and they will check it.
or the guy that socketed my ecu sucks..
which one?

Just thought I'd update this. I checked it with Crome GOLD, and it gives a solid CEL every time. Then I ordered a new Ostrich, and this one works fine. Turns out the old Ostrich (never really used!) does not output any data through the cable/pin header. So...I'm sending it back as the new one, since they have a 30day no-hassel return policy. Seriously, I would think they'd test each one before it left the factory...
So if you ever read this leoaa777, its probably your Ostrich.
